Dobber the Pacifist???

Come on Dobber!

Ryan had a great thing going - he had us all set up for a literary fist fight. I was half expecting Angus and Bugg doff the gloves and come out swinging.

Uppercuts, figure-four leglocks, off-the-top-rope flying elbows would have surely ensued. Who would have won? With Peter Chiarelli's job potentially on the line, which writer would have emerged victorious? Would Chiarelli's resume remain intact? Would one of the writers been forced to leave Dobberhockey in shame? Would there have been a rescheduled grudge match in the forums?

We'll never know now will we?

In walks Dobber the Pacifist and takes not one, but BOTH sides in an effort to quell the onslaught of violence that was coming.

Thanks Dobber. Thanks for nothing! - lcbtd

Draft-wise and development-wise (Bugg's forte), Chiarelli is a genius.

Cap-wise and running an NHL team, Chiarelli leaves something to be desired. He's like that poolie who is always rebuilding. He drafts good kids, hordes them, acquires picks like crazy, and doesn't dare move them for the win.

Bugg - "Peter Chiarelli is one of the most intelligent men in hockey and will welcome and build his team around his new asset going forward."

Angus - "Peter Chiarelli continues to display his inability to understand the salary cap. Chiarelli is completely screwing that team over from a cap perspective."

Writer fight.....go! Haha ;) - Ryan

I disagree on 2 pts.

Good article Matt, but I disagree with that first pick. A center is on their list. From what I've read Seguin is the more rational level headed of the two (which makes him a better fit for the "rabid environment of hockey mad Edmonton"). They need a guy who can make others better rather than the one man wrecking machine that is Hall. Not that they can go wrong with either pick both are going to be stars. My vote is Seguin.

And the other point is Connelly seems awfully low on this mock. If he isn't gone in the first 5 I would be surprised. - Greg Donnelly

Why does every mock draft list use a comment like this?
"A gritty center who excels at creating time and space for his more skilled linemates, Johansen is the perfect support player for Marian Gaborik as he'll take care of all the grinding and hard work needed to compliment a temeritous talent like Gabby."
When a prospect that hasn't a hope in hell of passing to a current roster player like Gabby? - Clem Finney

If EDM passes on Hall - Tambellini is an idiot.

I don't profess to know much about either of these 2 other than what the media has shown me here in Ottawa...but after what I saw at the WJHC and the chemistry Hall has with J.Eberle...Edmonton would be down-right idiotic to not get these 2 in the opening night line up in October playing together on the same line for the next 3 years for $850,000 each. Talk about a highly skilled yet EXTREMELY cheap offensive 2nd line for the first year or 2. Use that other cap space to buy-out Horcoff ans ship Souray out for nothing if necessary - and free-agents will go to Edmonton with the future they would represent. - Mark O' Donnell
