I just cannot get myself to part with Jokinen. In my honest opinion, I think as long as he is along Staal as a linemate... he'll be a consistent 60 point player.

He does not have great value right now because no one believes he can do it again. So I advise most fantasy owners to hang onto him and reap the benefits of having a great 4th line player. - Renegade

Most over-looked/under-rated...I guess Backstrom is, but the respect is coming his way, it's just not to where it should be yet!

I definitely think Kaberle is under-rated in fantasy hockey - he gets so much negative press in Toronto, that some people overlook his point totals. As for other under-rated defenseman, what about the 50 point Enstrom (3rd in East, 6th overall) or McCabe with his 42 points and 81 penalty minutes?

I think Jaroslav Halak has what it takes to be an elite keeper in the NHL. Montreal needs to figure out the Price/Halak situation - deal one and sign a veteran to mentor/back up the one you keep. Go get a Roloson or Hedberg (non-threatening type) that can work with a young netminder.

Thanks for your comments as well Mike. - Russ

Thanks Rick. I don't quite know how to explain my gut feel on J.Jokinen. He broke into the league with a a 55 point season, then scored 48, 42, 27 and now this year, at least 65 points. I guess part of my problem stems from the fact that his points were trending downward three seasons in a row, he was traded twice and waived by TB before being traded to Carolina. On the positive side, he's only 27 and should be in his prime. He's also under contract for one more season - I'd be more worried if this was a contract year. Bottom line for me is that I just don't trust him to repeat. I could certainly be wrong, but I'll only peg him for around 55 points next season.

Great idea on the young D. There are so many, even just in the East. I think I have enough of an idea on an article - thanks again for your comments Rick. - Russ

the one category I would add is the most over looked or under rated players at each position. Nicklas Backstrom comes to mind as an under rated Centre, because people might think he benefits from playing with OV. One could argue the opposite as well. On defense, maybe Tomas Kaberle, for his point producing ability. You've covered the goalies pretty well, so can't think of any one under rated at this point. - Mike

Russ - nice article yet again. Can you take a closer look at Jussi - I don't agree that he is a least likely, but I don't look at the Canes very closely and I wonder what you think his situation on the team will be in the next few years.

I would love to see an in-depth article from you on D guys futures in the east. I really struggle to get a handle on who I should be investing in. - Shoeless
