Ovechkin
Malkin
Barker

A year older than Crosby...

Barker is young and interesting, but one has to wonder, despite a great pedigree, the great body and all the tools... if he's ever going to make it as an IMPACT guy. Thus, at first glance, it seems a disappointing return for the Hawks. Upon review, oh heck, take the 1st & the steady and try and win the cup this year! Then, look to retool in the summer. There's a chance Johnsson decides he likes the Windy City, and he certainly won't be commanding monster dollars for his next contract! - Jocular Hockey Manager

I would imagine that another beneficiary will be Brian Campbell, since Quenneville had very recently indicated that he was going to use Barker more often on the PP. - Santo aka Ross10019

Nice win-win trade. Chicago gets the type of player it needs for a playoff run and his expiring deal is exactly what they want this summer. Leddy is more of a long-term project which is fine with the Hawks given their current cap situation.

Barker gives Minny a young offensive dman that can replace Burns' ineffectiveness alongside Zidlicky (until he's dealt). - Eric Daoust
