No Angus, Gary Bettman called me and said that the East is "ultra-competetive" this year. Why would he lie? - Russ

Yeah, the Sens may very well finish where they are in the standings, but not necessarily because of how good they are, but maybe partly because many of the teams behind them have "issues". There are 4 teams with 55 pts and 4 teams with 54 pts. A virtual logjam for the last three playoff spots (if indeed the top 5 teams stay where they are). There's still lots of hockey left though (28-31 games).

The 7 game win streak is great, but immediately before that, they lost 5 in a row, so that means they are only 2 games above .500 over the last dozen games. Not all that impressive when you look at it that way.

BDog - Even if a SJ/Ott Final is improbable, wouldn't that be mind-blowing!? The Sens would have additional motivation for sure. - Russ

the Sens are for real and Clouston has to be near the top of the Jack Adams consideration.

The Sens will finish where they are. - Evan H

Wouldn't it be entertaining to watch an improbable march to the finals by the Sens to face San Jose and then have them skating around with the cup to the dismay of one Danny Heatley. :D - BDog

Hey Russ,

Me again - I agree totally with Clouston as you can see where I wrote here last week: http://www.the99thmonkey.ca/?p=89

Check out the Ottawa section...(I have them landing in 7th and getting bounced by whomever they play in Round 1.) - Monkey Mark
