There's too many players out of whack in these rankings. Regardless of how you attribute points. Pat Kane for instance should be at least in the top 10 based on his rate of production and future point projections. Backstrom in 100th place shows just how crazy these rankings are. - Nate

I think some of the critics misunderstand the purpose of this ranking. Like it or not, Burrows/Samuelsson/Guerin HAVE outperformed Datsyuk/Thornton/Stastny in a roto format. At least thus far.

That said, I still think there's some major, major flaws in Mr. Boyle's ranking system.

One more example (I've posted others in the past): Jeff Carter is ranked 27th while Henrik Sedin is ranked 37th.

Henrik has 4 more goals, 24 more assists, has 6 more PIMS, has 2 more powerplay points, and is +21 while Carter is -2.

The only discernible category that Carter has an advantage in is SOG.

How can one stat possibly shift everything so far?!

At minimum, I think the author should disclose his formula. - D M

Shane - Joe Thornton is weak for goals, weak for Power-Play goals, weak for shots and somewhat weak for penalty minutes. Out of the five main categories, he's pretty weak in four of them, even if he's No.1 in the fifth category. This list isn't mine, but I can see the logic Chris used.

I know that taking a single point of time and making a ranked list is difficult. I don't understand why HSedin, leading the league is so low at this point, he has not slowed down? If as i surmise you are using the future prospects of a player as part of your ranking this could explain the many deltas you are hearing about. - mike hess

Chris - would be helpful if you identified the categories that you are using for the Rotisserie rankings. This would enable other to understand the rankings and also why a Thornton is ranked so low.

Also - what is the assumptions/formula you are using? Is this strictly where a player ranks in all categories and the lowest total number puts that person at the top? How many goalie categories vs player categories? Seems goalies are favored in your rankings.

Vindicated! And the league laughed when I traded Thornton,Weber,Stastny and Datsyuk for Howard, Burrows, Guerin and Samuelson.Haters.

I'm really not one to criticize any article or list written by any of the Dobber Hockey staff, but there are some serious flaws to this list that I just don't understand. For one, I don't know how Jason Blake cracks a top 100 list. Also, , I don't see how Stastny is at #96. He does have almost a point per game. Lastly, Jimmy Howard has not been the 4th best goalie in the league this season, he should be somewhere towards the bottom of the list. Now I'm not saying I can make a better list or anything because I know it takes a lot of thought and time, but there are just some things that really raise a few eyebrows in this list. - Evan H

This list really has NO true value to Roto leagues (or any league for that matter) after seeing Joe Thornton at #71...Even if your Roto league doesn't count PIM, Thornton is a top 15 Fantasy Roto player ATLEAST! C'mon Chris Boyle, give us something of value...thats a pretty useless list. Not too often does Dobberhockey put out garbage, so hopefully there are improvements to this article in the future. Sorry, but as a member we are all entitled to our opinions... - Shane Laur
