Both Brodeur and Ward are just a bit rusty and nothing else. Brodeur's rust is to be expected, as he's a year older and coming off an injury-plagued season...plus the dude is 40 now LOL. I noticed he looked a little (very little) uncomfortable in his new Sher-Wood pads. Ward was left out to dry against the Bruins and I don't think it's a cause for concern. He will bounce back strong. - Justin Goldman

Ward did not play badly in his two outings. The team in front of him did, however, so that may be the cause of some concern. - Marc Nimigon

How about Cam Ward? Out of the top end goalies he probably got off to the worst start. Expecting a good year from him, but he fell flat on his face out of the starting blocks... - SM

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Rinne. I know Ellis out performed him in the pre-season, so much that Ellis got the season opener and did quite well. What does this mean for Rinne short-term? Could we see a 50/50 split here, or are they still going to give Rinne the benefit of the doubt (unless he doesn't perform well) and allow him a few more starts than Ellis (based on last year's performance)? - Logan

Another golden read from the Gold-man. Thanks for this Justin!

re: Chicago short-term vs. long-term... that's sort of been their m.o. the last several years, hasn't it? Great (or at least good) short-term decisions that will probably compromise the long-term health of the team. - rticinelli
