Lou gets 30-34 wins and maybe 5-6 shutouts, your prediction was very homeristic.

and as much as I hate to say it Toronto's pick in 2010 will not be in the top 10 so Taylor Hall will end up probably on the Island with Taveres - Hardy Berger

some of those are bold predictions but one I agree with is Boyes. I'm not worried about Oshie (third-liner) or Berglund (Boyes' centre) taking away goal potential from him, he is in a great situation this year playing with Berglund and a play-making winger in Kariya... I wouldn't be at all surprised if Boyes nets 50 THIS year - KFV

This is why you go on Dobberhockey instead of watching sportsnet or tsn's season preview. The lines are so predictable on TSN like 'Penner needs to return to his old ways for the Oilers to find some success.'

Only thing I find contradicting is that you say 'Atlanta has a very under-the-radar team right now. Great talent, great role players, solid defense. Too bad they are relying on an overrated rookie and a washed up vet. Kari Lehtonen is about as dependable as a 20-year-old Ford.' And then a few paragraphs later you say you like them? - Brandon Landry

Boyes 50? Knuble 40?

Mike Knuble could hit 40 goals. He is the ultimate garbage goal scorer. On a team with shooters like Ovechkin, Semin, and Green, you can expect a lot of loose pucks around the crease.

Brad Boyes will score 50 goals in a season very, very soon.

Well, did someone turn back Mike Knuble's clock? Is he now 27? Nope, still 37. Mike Richards & Jeff Carter weren't nice guys to hang their hats with? How about Joe Thornton, Ray Bourque, Wayne Gretzky, Brian Leetch, Stevie Y, Liddy, Fedorov (jeepers Knuble has some neat friends!). Anyway, at age 37, if Mike gets 25 goals and 50 points I think everyone best be happy. 40 is too optimistic.

Brad Boyes 50??? He set an NHL record for fewest shots on goal and a 40 goal season. 200 shots a season won't cut it if you want to net 50, and his patterns are fairly set at this point in time. 30-35 seems more likely, particularly with emerging youth (Oshie, Berglund, Perron) and the return of Kariya & McDonald.

Both are neat guys, don't get me wrong. Expect more of the same from both.

I'll wonder for 30 from Tavares. Lots of opportunity on the Isle. Assessing him on a couple of pre-season games? Not me. He's the most touted kid since Crosby, since Lindros, since Gretzky, since Orr. Ovy didn't have near this level of adoration. Malkin was virtually an unknown at the same age. I was able to draft him in the 3rd round of our Keeper pool. Tavares went 1st overall.

Gaborik

Couldn't agree more with Gabby he is far form overrated, may be the biggest game breaker in the game when he is healthy I think 83 pts in 77 games in a lemaire system is pretty darn impressive. 60 goals in 82 games with Torts at the helm sounds about right to me. - Kevin G

Angus, Gaborik is OVERRATED. You and all these other fools always say the same thing "if Gaborik played a full season, he'd have 60 goals" or "if Gaborik played a full season he'd have 100 pts", and those statements are conservative compared to some of the other crap that gets thrown around. His PPG #'s are always impressive, but calm down. He played 77 games a couple of years ago, and had 83 pts. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Big deal. Oh but I guess playing for Lemaire shaved 50-60 points off his potential. Angus, your info is invaluable, your opinions are just plain silly. - Geoff Cooper

40 goals from a 37 year old Knuble who has never scored more than 34 in a season?

As for Tavares - 30 goals easy? On that team? Good luck.

I like the rest of your predictions though - you're not afraid to go out on a limb unlike those wimps at TSN. I REALLY like your take on Boyes - you're bang on!!! - Stuart McDonald

the meat of a jeff angus collumn:

the sedins will each get 150 points.

you should all draft alex burrows in the first round

andrew raycroft could be a starter on any other team

Samuellson is obviously a top line talent, and will probably score 50

bieksa should gte you about 60..no..check that, 65 points.

etc, etc, etc. we get it guy. - gmw

While i agree Lecavalier and St.Louis have too much talent to suck 2 years in a row- Im not sold on their goaltending, coaching (whats the line on Tocchet getting canned? ;D ) nor their defense- Ohlund had noticably slowed last year and it may be expecting alot from an 18yr old Hedman to lead the defense. It seems doubtfull that the owners will be able to play nice all season- so any adversity may send this team into another tailspin.

Rumour has it Burke offered a 3rd and a 4th round pick for the pylon. They still need to fill out their 2nd line ;D - Larry
