I figured Bieksa would be on PP2.

What are people's thoughts on him this year, is another close to 44-point pace campaign in order or does Garrison hurt that possibility?

Dobber has him down for 17 points, less than Edler Garrison or Hamhuis -
with 42 games played.

Personally I think Edler or Hamhuis have the same odds as Bieksa for getting hurt, Hamhuis has already had groin problems.

As far as Bieksa's numbers go, that will depend on how Garrison does in his first few games on the number one PP.

I suspect that Bieksa will be given the green light to join rush more often to start to season, someone has to help the second line score!!!

Not sure if this has been brought up before. Could part of the reason Lou has not been traded is that Lack is injured (2 months so far) and the Canucks dont have a quality backup beyond him if they make this trade?

Definitely makes things less urgent.

“We have a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have — and it’s not who anybody thinks it is — and so we have to wait. (But) we’ve been offered packages that don’t fit what our plan is, what we need,” said Gillis.

Like, how?

“Excess salary coming back with a [throw-in] player who can’t play in our lineup. They say, ‘OK, we’ll do this, but you’ve got to take this.’ Well, we’re not taking it. We’ve had lots of proposals like that with good pieces that can help us but the other part doesn’t help us, and oftentimes they have term attached to them, so we’d just be turning around and buying out a guy.

“I’d rather keep the guy we know, who’s a good person.”

I think this is BS and Gillis is just trying to allay concerns that VCR missed the Luongo trade window. If it’s real the team that could use Luongo is Tampa. Luongo would like that they’re in FLA and they have a mix of assets VCR could use. But I think Gillis is manipulating the media here.

However, more reasons Tampa could work include their ‘window’ is closing as Marty and Vinny are getting old, their new owner is desperate to win and make some $, Stevie Y is pretty savvy, and Tampa could sent Garon back in the deal – a quality back-up which VCR would need in any deal. Another reason why? I haven't heard Tampa as a destination for Luongo.

IMO, Gillis should just issue a statement saying given the condensed season, we've decided to keep both our No. 1 goalies.

A sorta you snooze you lose to the other GM's, the media circus leaves his goalie alone, and they can get on with playing good hockey.

If someone then comes along with a good trade you obviously, take it and claim it was too good to pass up, but the media scrutiny creating a goalie controversy is not good if the want Schnieder to take the reigns.

That's my 2 cents.
