I am currently involved in a fairly deep keeper league, I wish to pick up another goaltender, but the pickings are slim, as some may say. I posted earlier on Brent Johnson and that was shot out of the sky, to say the least, yet not many are left who are any better. What of Curtis Sanford and the goaltending situation in St. Louis? I understand sights are set pretty high on Legace this upcoming season, but Sanford is young. Eh. And whatever happened to Patrick Lalime? I liked him with the Sens, and now he\'s..well, a nobody.

I\'m not sure about Sanford, he seems to always get hurt for long periods when he gets his chance. I don\'t think he is durable enough to really help your team. Is Josh Harding gone? because if Backstrom gets hurt he can really become a factor for your team and he\'s very young. I\'m just trying to propose something that can help you but your league really seems to be deep. You\'ve probably think to Harding before.
Good luck |

Lalime did fine in his last few starts for the Blackhawks this year, but if Brent Johnson ain\'t good enough for you, Lalime\'s prospects behind Khabibulin are even bleaker. I don\'t think Monsieur Lalime is even the 2nd-best goalie in their system...
Sanford\'s in a better spot, and they\'ll be a better team next season with Brad Boyes there. They may even get Guerin back. Stempniak is for real too. I believe that of the Gs you mentioned, Sanford should be your target. I think he\'ll play more than Brent Johnson, even if Johnson benefits from better offensive fireworks in front of him. My 2 cents anyway. (I hope you\'re talking about your G3 or G4 options here, otherwise you\'re in trouble.)

Do you need someone to get you games this season? If not, are there any prospects available? I would rather wait on an up and coming goalie then settle for garbage. Otherwise you could pick up the backup on a good team and pray for an injury.

couple of sleepers for deep leagues
wade dubielewicz --(dipietro\'s backup for 07-08)--might see 12-18 games jason labarbera--decent chance of him being a quasi starter as he was for part of the 05-06 season for the Kings-- Cloutier is injury prone --burke and garon likely gone |

I don\'t think that it is a \'given\' that Sanford will be the backup in St. Louis. Marek Schwarz had a great year in Peoria. He is the goaltender of the future in St. Louis. The \'backup\' position is his to win in camp. Legace will be the starter.

Naw, if Schwarz gets in as a backup it will only be because Sanford got hurt. Which happens all the time.
Otherwise, Schwarz could go through camp with nothing but shutouts and Sanford could be letting in 10 goals per game, and Sanford will still be the backup.

I don\'t know exactly what is the situation in your league, but i will not go for a goalie like Sandford in St-Louis. You better to go for Schwartz if is still available. Some young goalie can make the team very soon in different city, like Price in MTL, Pogge in TOR, Toivonen or Rask in BOS... Maybe you can take a chance with Mason. I don\'t thick he will be nack in Nashville. Rinne is knocking at the door there. Some team will need help between the pipe soon or later, like LA, FLA, TB, PHO maybe ANA. Take a look at the market in the summer... Trades will happens in the summer for a few team that will have to go for a real #1 goalie. Minnesota will have to trade Fernandez, Giggy will be UFA, what will happens with Theodore in COL?
A few question that we will find an answer in the summer... A lot of change will be done at the beginning of the season at that position.
