I am doing a draft for the first 2 rounds of my Keeper league today. I have the 20th overall pick, 10 guys, so the last pick in a 10 man league for the round. After I take crosby 1st, Do you think its a good idea to simply reach a little bit for Radulov at 20? He has so much upside! Thoughts?

I understand that you have the 20th pick in the draft. You make mention of a \'10 man league\'. Does this mean you are selecting 10 players with your selection. Sorry, a bit confusing. Or maybe it is just me.

At the end of the day, if the opportunity to select Radulov presents itself then you should do it. He has the potential to be a superstar.

Hey, there are 10 people in the league, so i get 1st, then 20th, 21st pick and so on. yeah, im thinking i should just reach and get him he has amazing potential.

Since you are new to the site MysteryMike, I\'ll point you in the direction of Dobber\'s top players link on the left hand side. This is a great list to go by and will be a good indicator of when some players should go. I don\'t like looking forward 20 picks into the draft b/c you never know who is going to be available. That said, Radulov is a great addition to Crosby. You\'d be making your team very good for many years to come.

I\'d also look into trading your 2nd and 3rd round pick for the 2nd overall and your last round pick so you can take Ovechkin too.

There are alot of unknown factors to comment too much like # of players and drops for next year,spares??,d-men,goalies, are forwards split into positions etc. but my generic rule for a 1st year keeper league would be decide before too long if you are going to try to win it this year or build with young prospects for a powerhouse team 3 years from now knowing you will forfeit any chance of winning(this year). The guy that drafts all the bargain older stars will have a very good chance of winning it whereas the guy drafting the young prospects, Toews, Mueller , Radulov,Jordan Stall etc, or if there is d, then Matt Carle or Ryan Whitney etc should have a real powerhouse in 3 years but no hope of winning next year. Draft old team = very good chance of winning this year and possibly year after. Draft young team = you suck for a couple of years but have a good chance of leapfrogging everyone to the top by year 3. Going half young / half old = good chance of being middle of pack . This advice is only for opening year of a keeper league . With Crosby ,you have a good start no matter which way you try to go ,so good luck

I don\'t think it\'s a bad choice, depending how your league is working. If you need to get a number of forward, defenceman and goalie, I think I would prefer to get one guy at each position before getting an other good forward... Radulov is still young and I would prefer to get somebody else at this point. Maybe I would try to wait for the next round, but I think somebody will take a chance on him before your 40th pick... All depends on the way your run your hockey pool...

If you only count point regardless if they are forward or defenseman, it could be a good pick, but I would like to pick theses guys before : Crosby, Thornton, LeCavalier, Heatley, St-Louis, Hossa, Jagr, Iginla, Ovechkin, O. Jokinen, Spezza, Datsyuk, Malkin, Vanek, Tanguay, Zetterberg, Jagr, Alfredsson, Savard, Brière, Kovalchuk, B. Richards, E. Staal, Cheechoo...

thanks guys, as it turned out, a lot of goaltenders went in the first 2 rounds, and i was able to nab iginla with my 20th pick... im very confident radulov will slip to the later rounds, as nobody is even close to making good keeper picks as i see it! i\'ll keep you all posted.
