So here's the deal, me and another GM have been chatting about a trade. He wants to upgrade his FW's and me, goaltending.
He has already offered his Lundy for my Duchene/Kane, and I quickly rejected the offer. I wouldn't mind trading my one or two of my FW's for one of his goalies(Lundy being the one I really want), but I might be able to get Rask for cheap. This is his team: FW's: Boyes, Brassard, Marleau, Dubinsky, O Jokinen, Eriksson, Horton, Nash, Hemsky, Booth, Voracek, Leino Defense: Campbell, Boyle, Bouwmeester, Visnovsky, Babchuk, Tyutin Goalies: Lundqvist, Quick, Pavelec, Rask Anything you guys see that would construct a good trade for both these teams and would help me now and in the 3 year window? My team and our rules in sig.

Looking at his team he's only going to be able to keep two goalies, so you know he's going to be anxious to move one. Use that to your advantage.
You have the raw numbers in front of you in terms of player value in your league. Make sure the difference betweem the forward(s) you give up and replacement forward(s) isn't greater than the difference between Backstrom and whatever goalie you land. Maybe give him the benefit of the doubt on some things because goalies are generally worth more because they are scarce commodities but don't give him too much benefit of the doubt because you know he also has to make a move. Looking at the scoring I don't think that any one of your top forwards would be worth giving up for Rask. If you could pull off Spezza or Plekanec that would work but those top 5 guys should be untouchable. For Lundqvist because he's so consistent I think you have to give up a top guy but I'm struggling to choose. I'd probably say either Kane or Richards because of their generally low goal/shot totals. I actually think Richards is the best candidate given his size, playing style, and general lack of scoring consistency. Then you'd have to throw in some secondary parts. I think you could accept giving up Plekanec in such a deal as well, but whether or not this grabs him is another question.

take out duchene, or tell him to add dubinsky. hes going to end up droping a decent goalie even if he trades you one. he probly would rather lose a trade by a small maegin than trow away a good goalie.

I wouldn't go after Rask, especially if you can get Lundqvist (one of the most underated goalies.
Keep Kane, he's an important keeper asset. You could offer Duchene OR M. Richards.

So the other GM has countered with Ryan/M.Richards for Pavelec/Dubinsky.
I am thinking of countering Ryan/M.Richards for his Lundqvist/Dubinsky. Fair offer?

I just ran the numbers on your scoring system, and I think you should be happy with Ryan/Duchene for Lundqvist.
If a forward in your setup could put up a great season: 50 G, 50 A, +20, 400 SOG, 2 SHG, 3 hat tricks then they'd put up 521 fantasy points. A goalie who puts up 40 wins, 8 SO, 1850 SV, 170 GA, and 5 SHOL... well he'd put up 639 fantasy points. Ryan or Duchene will likely never produce like that, but Lundqvist already has. Just some food for thought. |

That seems like you're giving up a lot to someone who's gonna be forced to drop 2 of those goalies by season's end. What would it cost you to get a top pick in the draft so you can just take one of those goalies next season? If you know what that would cost, go back to this manager and see if he'd take that deal. I think you gotta play hardball with this one. He's the one that's gonna be forced to lose two of those goalies soon... The closer the trade deadline comes he'll be under more pressure to get something for them.
