Default Pieterangelo...do I aquire him now?

Points only keeper where Dmen get 2 points per goal...everything else is 1 point.

I am out of it this year and am in total rebuild mode. Thanks to the WAS connection of AO, Backstron and Semin.

I am being offered Pieterangelo by one of the top teams still in the running for Rafalski and Steen...Steen is insignificant as he is not a keeper for me.

Do I make this trade? Does Pieteragelo improve my team for next year or years to come with respect to holding on to Rafalski?

He wants an answer soon...thought I would ask you boys for help.

I think in 2-3 year, Pietrangelo will be a better option than Rafalski maybe not next year thought. Well , I think Rafalski's production depends on when Lidstrom retires. Pietreangelo is an absolute stud IMO. I love watching him play, he loves to join the rush and he has a great shot too. I say you accept this trade.

People can hype up Subban, McBain and Karlsson all they want, but I really think that Pietrangelo is the one who will be an elite D-man for the next decade. St. Louis did everything right with him, and it is paying dividends now and will only get better in the coming years.

Rafalski is a hefty price, but I think that a lot of his success is based on the team surrounding him, and on Lidstrom. The other thing to consider is that Rafalski's production is heavily assist-centric, whereas I see Pietrangelo being a 10+ goal guy as early as next year. That closes the gap a bit based on your scoring system.

To put this in terms of percentages, in a league like yours where goals are 2 points and assists 1 point, this is how I see things breaking down:

Chances that Rafalski and Pietrangelo finish within 10 points of each other based on your league's scoring system = 60% next season, less than 50% for each season beyond. Chances that Pietrangelo outpoints Rafalski = 20% next season, 55% the season after that. In other words, even if Rafalski outscores Pietrangelo next year (and I'm saying that's far from a guarantee), Pietrangelo is fast on his way to exceeding Rafalski's totals, assuming Rafalski stays healthy (age catches up to you) and keeps playing at or near his current level.

Oh, and some might argue that Eric Johnson's presence might hurt Pietrangelo. I'm not buying that at all. Johnson is fast on the road to being the next Phaneuf or Bouwmeester - all name and no game.
