Ok, I've been approached by Ovy's owner--he wants Heatley and Cam Ward, I get Ovy. He's right in the thick of things, I'm at the bottom of the pack, no chance to win this year. Do I do this? My goalie situation sucks as it is, and will obviously be worse after a trade...but I'd get OVY!!! Please help!!

Reply fast with a huge yes before he re-thinks it , do'nt even attempt to ask for anything else just play dumb and say ok 2 keepers for 1 but , it is Ovie and I'm ouit of it so i'll take the deal.This way he feels happy with his decission and maybe he wins this year for maling such a bold move , you get a top 3 elite keeper whose value will likely get you back equal value for the cost even in later yrs.

Take OV, and quick. You can deal with goaltending issues with future moves, but an opportunity to get OV at such a price doesn't come along very often, if ever.

In this format with goaltenders getting 2 for a win and 4 for a shut out that means Ward is a legitimate 100 pt guy.

It really depends on who you can get to replace Ward and which forward would you be using if yo u didn't have Ovechkin.

I'm not sure how many keepers you get but looking at the size of your roster and in a 14 team league you should be able to get a decent 70 pt forward with considerable upside without much trouble. Maybe even on the waiverwire if you are smart.

Can you say teh same about goalies? I doubt it and imagine there is slim pickings in a league like yours.

So if OV can get you 100-110 each year you are improving by 30-40 points over any random forward you might get instead. Maybe much less if you can find a sleeper

If Ward gets you 90-100 every year but can only be replaced by a 50-70 pt goalie the you are losing out on 30-50pts in the golie category. Not to mention another 10 to 20 losing Heatley.

Yes very nice to get Ovy but it's a lot closer than it seems in a format like this.

You really have to gauge what kind of goalies are going to be available in the coming years before you do this deal. A clearcut starting goalie like Ward is gold when you only count W and SO's. It's all about games played. If all the starting goalies are taken and you get left with a backup type guy your points lost on goalies could be much greater than the bonus OV gives you.

Sure yo ucan find a replacement goalie but in most cases finding a good starting goalie is really hard and can take several season's if you are just drafting prospects.

If you are considering trading for another goalie then factor in who you'd have to give up and then add that onto the Ward, Heatley price tag as well.

Looking at your roster you have a lot of young up and comers and should be competitive soon. Getting OV might actually set you back a season or two as ironic as that is.

Just do it and ship out one your other forwards for a goalie, even Duchene if you have to.
