I think we all can agree that Hillary Duff ruined this team.

Yeah, that's simultaneously a cap and a drafting issue. They simply can't afford a quality FA winger via trade/signing when they're paying three potential top-line centres, so they need to have young cheap wingers coming up. Guys like Tangradi/Jeffreys haven't quite panned out as hoped, but the expectations might be a little too high anyway? I think their best bet for long-term success will be to move Malkin to the wing on Staal's line (hell, Crosby would get his with the both of us for wingers ), but they need time to develop chemistry I think, and injuries have scuttled that plan for now.

The Flyers did not seem to struggle vs the hottest team/goalie in the playoffs...maybe because their D is better and O has alot more depth
Yes I think that's at least partially the case (Pens specifically focused on upgrading their D this summer), but I'd also argue that they benefited from meeting Montreal in the third round and not the first or second. I think everyone who watched the Canadiens will be the first to say they ran out of gas after two hard-fought series. Of course in particular Halak was simply good again Philly, and not godlike....
