PK has been playing great hockey lately for the Habs. He is logging the most minutes on the team and is looking a lot better defensively over the past few weeks.
I was wondering what everyone sees his upside at being? And, what do you see this kid producing year in and year out?

I ask because I could potentially move Subban in a package deal to acquire Mike Green but I would be giving up a lot with Subban to get Green. Curious as to what people see his production being like.

I think he will be good for 50-55pts with 60 upside. Subban is already the best D for the Habs (with Markov injury). Yes, he made some bad plays and he will do it again..learning process. But he have all the tools..good skater, good vision, big shot, good stick handling and he is a big worker. At 21 he's already physically mature to play in the NHL.

45 point guy...if Wiz makes home in Montreal long term I'd go with Wisniewski over him personally...not high on this 50-55 point stuff he gets projected on..45 is about right

A reliable, annual number to bank on, considering all possible variables at play and overall likelihood, for me would be 48-53. Throw in a a couple of 55-58 pt seasons.
60 is a tough nut to crack once, let alone annually (just ask Keith and Green). I am reluctant to throw that number around for anyone when it comes to year-in/year-out numbers because there are just too many extraneous variables at play.

I'm with you on that...only guy I say is legit 60 is gonna be Doughty and Karlsson... I think they're that good to do it consistently...I didn't even include Keith on my draft list this season cause I was that confident he wouldn't hit 60 again or even 55...great all-around defenseman, but more elite puck mover amongst elite talent who cashed in on his situation than elite 55-60 point offensive defenseman in my eyes doesn't have that skill-set...I think Shattenkirk in COL will be 55 lock with60 easy on any given season tho long term so i'll tack him on there as well

lol if that was my keeper then i'd see what you mean..and I actually did not pay attention to fact I owned both in that league down there...but yea I do think he's that good skill-wise to do at least 55 for sure...guy's offensive skills as a defenseman are ridiculous and only 20 right now with no help...Shattenkirk is really good, but his situation is about as ideeal as anyone in the league in COL with heavy PP time alongside Stastny Stewart and Duchene long term so that's where I get 55 for from...I like Karlsson alot man

If you can get Green for him, do it. Yes, I realize that Green has looked like a shell of his former self and Washington is playing a system that might not see him get 75+ points going forward, but the fact is that Green already has shown he can achieve otherwordly stats for a D-man, whereas Subban, for now, is a guy with lots of talents who has not exploded as was imagined. People are enamored with trying to grab a guy before he breaks out, and often let that cloud their judgment.
I also worry that Subban might be heading down a path similar to Eric Johnson where immaturity and other issues might derail what looked to be a sure fire superstar career. |
