Default What to do? I'm in 2nd...

So alot of you guys really feel that Parise is that far ahead (even after this knee issue) of E.Staal or possibly B.Ryan as my 3rd Forward KEEPER?

What about....?

I'd get: B.Ryan(C/LW), J.Carter(RW/C) and T.Myers(D)

I'd give: Z.Parise(LW-IR), J.Pavelski(C/RW), T.Zajac(C), V.Leino(LW)

I'm not sure he'd even do this offer, but he does have interest in Pavelski.
Do you guys have any other suggestions? My team is in 2nd and 1st place is just starting to pull away.......I need help now!

I'd take Staal straight up for Parise if you are going for it. Pretty even regardless. Both 85+ point players, even if Zach should hit 90. Staal already has a 100 pointer under his belt

I think you give up too much in your other deal, so I would do the Staal - Parise without much hesitation.

In a league where you can only keep 3 F, I think Parise's very valuable - injured or not. He's a proven elite player who can pot you 90+ pts in a season...not too many of them around...so with that in mind, I would target the team that is already out of contention (maybe it's the Ryan team?) and try to deal with them as they are most likely to give you fair market value for Parise.

Having said all of that, I don't mind the deal above but I really don't think that Ryan/Carter/Myers are playing that well this year and will this trade really push you over the edge? I doubt it...especially with what you're giving up...

I would propose you start with this:

Your Parise/Zajac (or Leino)

For his Ryan/Myers

Carter isn't a keeper in your format so that diminishes his value to me by quite a bit...is he really going to outpoint Pavelski or Leino by that wide of a margin going forward...not likely...

Try to utilize Parise elite status to get this deal done, but don't overpay just because he's injured...someone will pay for an elite top 5 LW in your format...

Sorry Loco....I didn't mention that its the team in my signature, and I have both Parise and E.Staal. You think I am STILL giving up too much in the trade above?

As I mentioned, it's ok but I don't think this is the deal that's going to take your team over the top and you're losing the best player by a good margin...Ryan is not in the same league as Parise (and I don't think he'll ever be...Ryan's a great player in his own right but we're talking about a young LW who's proven he can score 90+ pts in Parise)...

In a limited keeper format such as this I would target players who are shredding this year but may not hold a lot of keeper value...so the oldie but goodie's type guys like St Louis, Lidstrom, etc...

Although they don't hold the same keeper value, those are the players who can take your team to a new level this year...and you have three great keepers in Malkin, Staal (I agree with Loco in that he's on par with Parise as a keeper but I like Parise better because he's a LW) and Kane...

So go for guys you think can help you win...the guys who are really performing well this year over younger guys (ala Ryan, Carter, Myers) who hold more "keeper" value and won't help you get over that hump...

Oops - sorry bout that. Just a quick glance and I thought that you had an option for Staal.
Now that I have a closer look, it is tough.

I guess it comes down to a healthy Ryan this year and going forward VS. losing a much better keeper in Parise, but who is giving you zero production this year as you try and make a run. The rest of the pieces will be dropped anyway at the end of the year, correct?

Since you won't be keeping Myers anyway, I would go after someone who is producing. Why take Myers when you will obviously be keeping Green? If someone like Lidstrom is available, I would try to get him from someone who is not contending.

I don't think you are losing THAT much in Parise vs. Ryan if it gives you a shot this year. If you can somehow do Parise and Zajac for Ryan and a producing D like Lidstrom, I would do it.

Not sure if this is at all helpful, but good luck!!

I would make this deal.

Ryan may not be there yet, but he has a good chance of being a 40-40 guy going forward. Plus he will give you a heck of a lot of PIM's.

People always come on here and say.."ya its ok to give up players on the farm that are good if you are going for the win."

or

"sometimes you have to overpay to win the year"

well, this is a case where..

Yes, you are downgrading your keeper. A sin in limited keeper. But guess what, Parise isnt helping you win this year. If you can get Ryan for Parise as well as improve other spots on your team and help your team climb up and win the league, then its worth it.

Personally I am sick of the argument that since Parise hit 90+ points that he should only be traded as such..

good luck trading Staal as a 100 point player.. or Boyes and Vanek as a 40 goal scorer.

now I am not putting Parise with Boyes and Vanek.. not by a long shot. Parise is clearly an elite talent. But to ignore what Ryan is/will become is silly to me.

But thats just me.
