I'd say the opposite - he's seizing the opportunity given to him. Hockey sense always prevails. It's not like the Isles are embarrassingly rich in defensemen anyway. Streit comes back.. and then what?

Default MacDonald, Shattenkirk, or Paul Martin?

Who would you rather own in a one year roto league that counts G, A, +/-, PIM, SOG, hits, blocks, PPP, SHP, and defenseman points?

MacDonald, Shattenkirk, or Paul Martin?

Shattenkirk was on fire for a bit but has been pretty cold as of late. I'm tempted to give MacDonald a try...

Thoughts?

He is looking more and more like a keeper, rather than the stop gap ww grab I envisioned. I had no idea that he put up such numbers in junior, and I agree with Angus, there is not much in the pipeline in NY.

Does he have a shot from the point or is he an assist machine? Our league counts triple for D goals, so I would like to know what kind of asset I am holding onto here.

Projections for the next few years, Mr. Angus?

I finally caught a game of his last night and he looks pretty good on the PP doing the QBing job. I can definitely see him being relevant in most leagues. He has the poise, puck skills and shot to make him an above average PPQB. He is quite small but so are a lot of dmen these days.

MacDonald looked like a poor mans Enstrom (stressing the poor) when I looked at his style

I heard he was more of a shut-down guy than offensive, frmo other Isles fans.

Last night was the first time I watched him play. I tuned into the EDM-NYI just to see him play. He's definitely not strictly a shutdown dman. His offensive skills are somewhat untapped IMO.

Above I mentioned that he was "smaller" but I checked his stats and he is listed as 6'1" and 201 lbs on the Islanders website. He doesn't seem that big. Maybe it's his lowered skating style but from watching him last night I would've put him around 5'10.

I would say his offensive abilities are similar to Mr. Wisniewski but he's definitely better defensively. I can definitely see why they traded the Wiz.

I saw him a little bit as well. Poor shot, mediocre playmaking skills. He will be replaced on the PP as soon as possible.
