Before the season I'd never have considered Whitney here but now there's no way I wouldn't take him. He's going to be one of the cornerstones of the Edmonton rebuild. He's got a great situation, history of production and draft pedigree. I think we are finally seeing him healthy for the first time in a while and we are seeing him flourish with a major role on the Oilers. Kaberle would have to get dealt to a juggernaut to pass him at this point.

Agreed, Whitney is just where he needs to be, the situation fits like a glove. Kaberle needs to be traded to a cup contender for these two to be equal IMO.

It's amazing to say it as Kaberle is still valuble, but Whitney is on a a better team with a better future and in a better position on that team.

I agree that right now Whitney is the clear choice, but if all things are equal, Kaberle is far more skilled and a better PPQB.

I agree with the consensus pretty much. Whitney is the better option RIGHT NOW but I don't think we are giving Kaberle enough credit . He is a very good Dman and an excellent PP QB and that won't change no matter where he goes. Toronto is just killing him right now and I have a hard time beleiving that he won't be dealt at some point this season to a contender.

Whitney, look at his production outside of this year too Career pace 48 pts per 82 gp and he was playing with bad feet past couple years. He's healthy and has great talent in front of him. He may not shoot a ton but he logs big minutes, skates well and great passes, exactly what you want with speedy forwards.
