I definitely agree with the argument made to draft Green with a late first round pick and like the others, I did and was laughed at. I did manage to convince people who were willing to listen (and see my argument on paper) where I was coming from, and most went away no longer laughing. But are people also laughing at the guy who drafted Parise or Kovalchuk?
The logic for drafting Mike Green was solid as he was so dominant as compared to all other D over the last few seasons.
But if at the end of the season Byfuglien ends up with 80 pts and the next best D 60 do you use the same logic on him next year? Probably not.
It seems this season burst the "Gretzky-like" status on Green for sure.

yeah, i scooped Green off the WW his first season and he has been a keeper every since. we only keep 7 players, including 2-3 Dmen.

it's not like i was going after just any old players....with Dmen like Letang, Weber, and even Giordano and to some extent Subban, I felt as though I was solid at D. With obvious issues at Wing and Center (other than Toews), I attempted to upgrade by dangling a package of Green + in front of the owners of Sedin, Perry, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Semin, Malkin, etc trying to balance out of roster. I was hoping the current Green value would be overlooked and the past/future Green would be considered. I am 100% ok with still having him on my team. Owners in my league value the here and now more than past performance and future potential. Very frustrating at times.

So here is to a stellar 2nd half performance for Green....as someone posted before, he drives a Lambo....so things have to get better! I see 60 points easy for Green this year! After all the ups and downs this year, 60 points from a D I will take!

Here-here! I think Green has to turn it around soon. He seems to be the guy that everyone else feeds off of. I suspect that Ovie, Backstrom and Semin won't get out of their slumps until Green does.
