Yeah that final episode, and in particular the final scene at the diner, was a brutal end to a great show. I'm not a fan of that whole leave em guessing, make up your own mind what happened formula. On the whole though I really liked the series start to finish so I can overlook that and enjoy what came before. I'd recommend checking it out if you haven't.

no upheaval MD -Tony was whacked

you wouldnt regret investing the time to watch it from season 1 to the end

Six Feet Under,Oz, The Wire,Deadwood are a few other older HBO series well worth the time.

Yeah, it's the fact that I know how it ends, and the fact that many reacted negatively that has me disinterested in investing any time. Throw on the fact that I now know without a shadow of a doubt how it ends.

30 Rock - MD give it another shot, it is not a mindless sitcom! Some of the funniest writing on tv!
Modern Family - Phil rules
Community - hit or miss, but there are some pretty good episodes.
Parks and Rec - only watched a few eps, but its better now than when it first came on the air
Eastbound and Down
Weeds
Entourage
Curb Your Enthusiasm

Lost, arrested development and Seinfeld have to be the old-time favs.

How good is Lost and specifically why do you like about the show as that is the one program that's come out recently that i've had some interest in....first season I was intrigued hearing about it but I dunno if the revalations (no idea specifically what they are) about the island are worthwhile and intriguing or just dumb...I remember hearing it took over a season or so to really understand what was making those noises etc... and I don't want to invest all that time in a show if it's not worth it and if it is worth it I rather not spoil it too heavily....I wrote a post last page about more of my tastes so maybe look at that before answering this one if that gives any further insight as to whether it'd be something i'd probably like or not from those who are fans of the show

That 70's Show is pretty amusing and due to the construct of the show obviously never gets dated...Buffy the Vampire shit was decent..Supernatural somewhat decent but they should've bagged it last year when they originally planned on it instead of keeping it going and running it into the ground. I rather watch movies than invest in long term TV shows where due to the nature of them they get more and more ridiculous as the seasons go on...commonly undermine core aspects of the show/characters for the sake of new storylines...get somewhat monotonous over time if they don't etc...I like movies a bit more because they're there for 2 hours to tell a story...few plot twists..a breast or two..a relationship that doesn't have to become ridiculous for the sake of new storylines...an occassional action scene or two...I like it much better like that personally..nothing is worse though than a bad movie though so it's a little more hit or miss than with TV..again directly due to the nature of them...good thread though buddy
Of course, Matthew Fox is in it! I've watched some episodes. I would like to find the series on dvd and watch the whole series. I love Foxy. Probably my favorite actor.

lol...I meant other than that aspect of Lost..what an oversight on my behalf...try and stick more to the context of the actual show and storyline itself and what people who are fans liked about it personally

It's worth it. Everything about the show is great. The acting is A++++. The whole cast is simply amazing. Every single actor is a perfect fit. Matthew Fox and Terry O' Quinn are golden in it.

The writing by Lindeloff and Cuse is amazing. It might be hard to understand at first but every episode will WOW you. I didn't watch it when it first came on. When I started it was about to go on season 3 so I had to re-watch 1 and 2 before 3 started. After every LOST episode I found myself saying omg what will happen next?!?! must watch another episode right now! It's a well done show. However, don't expect a big reveal when you get to the final season. It's a character driven show which makes it all the more perfect. The story is beautiful. I was moved by it.

I must have watched the whole series 5 times. I plan on doing another re-watch soon. It is THAT good.

Definitely the character development. In the first season especially they spend so much time developing and evolving this great characters. The acting on the show is also fantastic. Most of the actors were no namers before but they all really bought into it. You really invest so much into these characters. The narrative style is really very good as well, with lots of flashbacks that help show us the back story for these characters so we can understand their motivation.

And then of course the story in the present time on the show is fantastic as well. Lots of mystery and suspense. Each episode leaves you wanting more.

Lost was really unique in the way they created so much mystery that it allowed for so much fan involvement online. There were countless message boards dedicated to analyzing and overanalyzing things in every episode trying to find all the meaning behind things. It's so rich with diversity drawing inspiration from all aspects of the scientific and religious realms. The amount of mythology that went into it is fantastic.

I will warn you that it does seem to devolve into something much less awesome by the middle of the 3rd season. And it goes way off the map by the 4th and 5th but they really snap back to whats important by the 6th season.

The 1st season though that is a thing of beauty. I wish you could just watch that and not get locked in and need to watch the other 5 seasons. Because you really take a risk of wasting some time if you aren't willing to get into some big time science fiction.

I loved the whole thing all the way through but even I acknowledge it got tedious in the middle seasons and I know a lot of people who got fed up watching the show and also hated the ending. Some even claimed to have wasted 6 years following the show.

I think it's good that it's all over and done with now so you can really dive in at your own pace with the DVDs (likely a fast one) rather than have to wait the agonizing week for more information.

Not sure if I sold you, or scared you off but I don't recommend Lost for just anyone.
