Hello guys,
Just completed a major trade in my keeper, and was wondering what you think. Seems to me (and to other GMs who know about it by now) that I should be arrested for grand robbery. I gave : Dion Phaneuf and the 19th, 37th and 39th overall picks I received : Lubomir Visnovsky, Tuomo Ruutu and the 1st overall pick To think I\'ll transform this pick into Stastny, Toews or Michalek, I feel like its Christmas all over again. The other guy is absolutely thrilled because of Phaneuf, but to me, in a pool in which only goals (3 points) and assists (1 point) count, Phaneuf is not as valuable as in the real game. I was a little afraid at first because of the \"he\'s so young\" factor,\"see when he\'ll reach his prime\", but Visnovsky anchoring the Kings pp is a stud too. Still can\'t believe I traded Phaneuf. At the same time, still can\'t believe I received what I received. :woohoo: Had to share this. My karma is boosting all over the place. :silly: Post edited by: CaporalRadulov, at: 2007/05/15 22:31 |

If you get one of those guys I\'d say you kicked ass...........What about Backstrom???If Ruutu stays healthy you should be busted!!!!!

I would take Paul Stastny to make me feel a bit better on trading Phaneuf but the way your pool is setup with the goal factor, you might be ok...
Dont be fooled by the \"young\" thing./.. |

Backstrom has already been drafted. However, I feel very comfortable with Stastny, Toews or Milan. Right now, my mind is not set. Maybe I give an edge to Stastny, but I have plenty of time to think about it.

You have named 3 potential draftees. Of the three I would narrow my picks between Stastny and Michalek because you know what they bring to the table. If I had to make a choice between those two then I would go with Stastny. I base that decision on what he has done and what I conider his upside to be.
I think that Toews will be a very good player but you have no indication, yet, of what he will bring to the table once he plays with Chicago. Might he return to college hockey? Of the 3 players that you have named, I am going to select Stastny. |

ok, you most certainly got the better end of this deal. Visnovsky scores just as many goals as Phaneuf, has more points, etc etc. Ruutu, if he stays healthy, is going to be great, and...the sky is the limit with that 1st overall draft pick. This is a keeper league? I would go with Backstrom.

Before I pass judgement, I\'d need to know if you are able to keep all of your players or if you can only keep a certain number of players from year to year. If it\'s the latter then you likely shouldn\'t be keeping Ruutu, but that depends on the rest of your team. On the surface, this looks like a good deal but it really needs some clarification. |

I gave : Dion Phaneuf, Chris Drury and the 19th, 20th, 37th and 39th overall picks I received : Lubomir Visnovsky, Tuomo Ruutu, Glen Murray and the 1st and 6th overall picks We keep all of our players. 16 spots on the team, with the Top 8 forwards, two D-men and 1 goalie counting. We also have a farm club. When there\'s no more room for a guy, then it\'s waiver time, etcaetera. So, when I saw those trade opportunities, it was easy for me : quantity can\'t beat quality, and my team was already pretty deep. I was dying to get that 1st overall pick that will allow me to grab The Big Kid. With the 6th overall, it will be another top-notch young gun. Starting at 19th, I could only have drafted either will-be-good-but-never-great players or second-tier prospects. Hope it clarifies my thinking. Post edited by: CaporalRadulov, at: 2007/05/17 16:06 |
