Default Saturday Nov 28th - Studs & Duds

Studs

Chemistry 101

The Michalek-Fisher-Kovalev line was on fire last night. Fisher(2 G, 1A) and Kovalev(1 G, 2 A) had 3 points each and Michalek added 2 assists. The 2nd and 3rd goals were beautiful. Be sure to check the highlights of these goals on TSN. Brian Elliot picked up his second shutout of the season.

"Mighty" Ducks.

The Ducks ended their 6 game losing skid in a big way. The combo of Ryan-Perry-Getzlaf showed their offensive abilities as they each had multi-point games. Ryan had a hat trick and 7 SOG, Perry had a goal and 2 assists and Getzlaf chipped in 4 assists. It's always nice when you own one of these guys and they have a big night.

Sidney Crosby

Sid the kid recorded his 200th career goal (and # 201) in style, as he got a hat trick against Calgary. Crosby would have had 4 goals in this game had he converted on a penalty shot he took in the first period. With the hat trick, Crosby moved into first place, passing Steven Stamkos as the top point getter in the league. The Pens are on a roll as they now have won six straight games.

Honorable mention.

Carey price got his league leading 14th win last last night and almost picked up the shutout as well if it wasn't for a late 3rd period goal by Buffalo. Price's win surpasses his win total from last season. And we're not even in december yet. Jaroslav who ?

Colorado/Minnesota game

After pretty much completing the studs and duds, I noticed this game had 11 goals combined last night. What impressed me even more was that Greg Mauldin had 2G and 2A !! I didn't even know who this guy was, so therefore I thought he should only deserve an honorable mention. Who the hell is Greg Mauldin ? Oh and some guy named Kevin Shattenkirk had a goal and 2 assists as well. Just kidding, I know who this guy is. Future all-star.

Duds

Ilya Kovalchuk

Despite playing over 26 minutes and registering 8 shots on goal, Kovalchuk was invisible on the scoresheet. Shame on the devils for signing this guy long term. 100 million dollar man and he's only on pace for 36 points. Money well spent ? I don't think so. At least the Devils won.

Road woes.

Nothing went right for the Leafs last night. A combination of missed opportunities, extra long shifts and sloppy passing meant they played an awful game. Kessel missed a couple of good chances in the 3rd period. The Buds have lost 8 straight on the road. Nothing fantasy worthy from this team last night. ( well, aside from Phil Kessel getting 6 SOG)

Ilya Bryzgalov

Bryzgalov wasn't his usual self last night. He was in net for all 6 Anaheim goals. As a Bryzgalov owner, I wasn't very impressed to see him get lit up, but this should only mean a shutout is coming in his next performance, hopefully, lol... Phoenix had their win streak halted at 7 games.

Honorable mention

Jaroslav Halak and the St-Louis Blues.

The Blues were riding a 1-0 shutout into the 3rd period, and then it all fell apart. Dallas scored 2 quick goals at the beginning of the 3rd period and went on to lose the game 2-1.
