Default Friday Nov 26th - Studs n Duds

Sorry for the late entry, apparently if you fall asleep by mistake at 10pm, you don't wake up for hours!! Take note.

Studs

Atlanta/Pavelec winning streak
That's 4 wins a row for the Thrashers. But the way they are winning games is more impressive. 3 dominant wins over 3 of the leagues top teams(Wash, Det, Mtl). As for Pavelec, he's now started 8 in a row and has only let in more than 1 goal 3 times, and more then 2 goals once.

Semin'd
Ho hum another game, another hat-trick, that makes 3 for Semin this season and it isnt even December. How much money is this guy gonna command in the summer? I cant imagine Washington paying him what he'll be owed, especially if he disappears in the playoffs again.

Goaltenders
Could have easily picked 3 goalies for the studs, they'd deserve it. 5 shutouts on the night. Let's rank them;
5. Varlamov - did the Bolts even show up? 17shots on goal, only 1 from Stamkos. Good win for Varly's confidence tho.
4. Pavelec - Poor game from Montreal, but Atlanta's been making a lot of teams look bad lately.
3. Lundqvist - You'd think a 40save shutout would be first, especially in a big bounce back game for Lundqvist, but comon, it's Florida.
2. Dipietro - I was ready to give Dipietro #1, thinking this would be his first shutout since the 90's, but on 2nd look, he shutout the same New Jersey team last January. Still an impressive way to end a 14 game losing streak.
1. Ward - wow what a game. Boston always brings the best out of Ward and the Canes. Many spectacular saves today including robbing Horton and Seguin of wide open nets.

Duds

Sergei Kostitsyn
-3 in 9 minutes of action. Now pointless in 8, and only has 1 goal this season. How do you say KHL in Russian? It's the same, KHL.

Steve Downie being normal
Only 12pims in your last 8 games? How dare you.

Tampa's goaltending
Sure the whole team sucked tonight, but I love this Tampa team but I can't picture them going anywhere with this tandem. There defense isn't strong enough to make up for it.

I think Dipietro was just rewarded for going through hell and back in the last two years. I really hope the Isle settle in to playing some solid hockey and giving him even more chances. I am not particularly a fan of his but I am thrilled for him today - much, much maligned and not particularly deserving of it in my mind.

Can I toss out a few DIS-honourable mentions?

Antti Niemi for continuing to suck the fat one. In net for all 6 against last night.

Patrick Marleau for going a team worst -4 and not even managing a single ****ing shot on goal.

Coudos to Devon Setoguchi. In a game where 12 of his teammates were minuses he managed to be the only Shark with to be a plus, going +1.
