I guess they can just bury Potter in the minors since you get a 900k discount on demoted contracts.

Yea, don't think they really care about burying Potter. He's already behind all the guys listed on prior page and also behind Marincin and Teubert and maybe even Fedun.

You can never have too much depth on the blue line!

Potter got buried in the minors the second the Oilers inked Schultz. Basically, Potter was just their power play drone. They needed a righty-shooter who wasn't completely retarded offensively to play the point. Now that they have someone who is actually good they don't really need Potter. He's an insurance policy though, in case Schultz gets hurt or stinks somehow.

Give me as many goons on the back end as possible though. The worst thing ever last year was when the injuries swept through the lineup and the Oilers had like one reliable D-pairing.

Fistric, we welcome you with open arms. Don't suck!

Last I heard, the lines they were running in camp were:

Hall - RNH - Eberle
Yak - Gagner - Hemsky

Default Eberle named full time Alternate Captain

The Oil have said that Horcoff will remain the captain, while Eberle gets the "A". Hall and N Schultz will rotate games with an "A". Love Eberle as an alternate. Surprised that Ryan Smyth doesn't get to be an Alternate.

I'm not surprised that Horcoff is still the Captain, but Smyth... that guy is all leadership and playing by example. It's too bad he didn't get an A since I'm sure those youngsters would respect waiting their turn. That said, Smyth will be a leader whether he wears a letter or not.

Yeah Smyth's role as a leader won't change no matter the letter, and it's time for the torch to start being handed over to the younger guys. Not surprised Horcoff is captain for this season though.
