Do you think Galchenyuk stays? I'm sure he doesnt look out of place but will he get the ice time to develope. From the net radio feed it siunds like he's getting secondary pp time

If it were my decision, I wouldn't rush his development. Lots has been said already about why burn one contract year in a shortened season, ESPECIALLY if he's not a key part of the offense or playing big minutes.

Agreed. Dif story if your competing for a cup and he's helping you win. Let him dominate elsewhere (ahem islanders re. Neiderreiter)

The only challenge is that his other option is going back to Sarnia. Which is fine, but he has nothing to prove there. He'd be best suited in the AHL, but that can't happen.

What, if anything, do you think the Benn signing does for PK's case? For me at least, Benn is a more valuable piece to his team than PK is and I would think this could translate to 4 year at $4 million per deal for PK, which I would be thrilled with.

I haven't talked Habs in a while and needed to get my chat on!

Honestly I think his development has to continue in Montreal. I would be a bit worried about complacency in the OHL.

It puts a bit of pressure on Subban and the Habs because the only other RFA is in Russia. I think this all gets resolved before long though. It feels a lot like the lockout doesn't it?

It's frustrating because while he has a clear value with the Habs, he is no Drew Doughty. I don't necessarily think he needs to take a bridge contract but he needs to be realistic about his value. I hope it doesn;t end in a trade because I'm a big fan of his and I can't imagine what kind of value they would fetch for him.

I think he has to take a bridge contract because of the lowering cap. The landscape has changed and it appears like he has to be one of the guys that take a financial hit. If he wanted a different contract he should have signed before the lockout.

Totally agree and I hope that's what ends up happening.

As for Galchenyuk, while it's tough to eat a year off his ELC it doesn't look like he's struggling out there, so I'm fine with keeping him on the roster. As previously stated, there is absolutely nothing left for him in the OHL.

The idea of burning an ELC year only really affects the team in future years. I think it would be a cheap business move to do this at the expense of doing what is right for a franchise player.
