I guess the answer depends partly on whether or not you're in a position to contend this year or you're looking to build for the future.

the window is closing on Gonchar. If you don't unload him this year, you won't get anything for him. Landing Myers would be huge. I know this is a points-only league and Myers is more of a multi-cat player, but his numbers should still be quite good for years and years and years and years to come.

Like RR10 said, unless Gonchar is the difference between winning and losing right now, I would make that deal. Then again, I suspect Gonchar to get 50 points and Myers 40, so is 10 pts really going change anything? I doubt it.

If you could land Myers, grab him. My opinion might have been different had Gonchar still been playing for the Pens. I don't see him hitting 60 with the Sens, so the point differential between the two shouldn't be too big.

You won last year and you're thinking of getting rid of your best defenceman? Why? There's a large gap between Myers and Gonchar IMO, and I really don't think Myers will do what Gonchar can do in the next 3 years.

In a keeper, I would trade Gonchar for Myers in a heartbeat. And I am a Gonchar owner in multiple leagues (and huge fan).

I like how people are all hung up on the age of a player. Look at all those unproductive old players. Lidstrom, Neidermeyer in his last season last year (50 points), Gonchar this year (9 points in 13), Selanne (on pace for 80 plus), Jovo just got a hat trick. Yes they are older but all they do is produce every year. I myself am in a keeper league, but find myself always trying to go for it. A lot of these young guns that are the next Gonchar of the world (example Kulikov) are still looking for their first point. Give me the proven stud player any day

Its a cap/Keeper league. Age/Salary/Points really drove my decision. Wjat if Gonchar gets hurt again like he often do. I know he's very productive when healthy, but I felt now was the time to get something good in return. Do you guys think Myers was just flash in the pan? (49 points)
