hi, I have Myers and am a bit worried about his production, mostly the -10 he has.
If i was to look at trading him what should i be aiming for in return? Which other youngish D could i aim for who would be better then Myers both this season and in the long run. Or is Myers gold as a keeper Im in a 16 team keeper and am struggling in 10th spot. My D corps is Myers, Weber, Liles, Babchuk, Taormina, Colaicovo i have boychuk, Cuminsky and Blum stashed on my farm ________ Lamborghini V8 Last edited by Rajiabu; 03-14-2011 at 11:32 PM. |

I'd say stick it out, his value is artificially low at the moment due to his dismal start. If you are worried try unloading him when he gets on a nice hot streak. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Liles can be a nice sell high if you can get any takers.

I say sell. When ever you can trade a player when his value is very low you have to do it. Ideally find a player who's value is sky high and make a straight swap. Remember if you can sell low and buy high at the same time jump on the opportunity immediately.
NOTE: What's with all the panicking 12.5% of the way into the season? |

Exactly. There should be a no-panic rule until the season is twice that old.

I wouldnt say that im panicking. Just want to know if his current play is what i should expect all season and if so then would it be wise to trade now and get an upgrade rather then wait and see his value drop further.
What i would like to know is, Do any other young players look better then Myers? such as Bogosian, Karlsson, Johnson, Subban, etc etc. Would it be worthwhile trading Myers for any of these? Would any of these guys be better this season or since its a keeper, long term? I know Myers was the man last year My team is carrying alot of rookies so the reason im in 10th is not because of Myers, hopefully i will compete this season but id say in 2 years i could be top ________ PARK LANE Last edited by Rajiabu; 03-14-2011 at 11:32 PM. |

That being said, in a points only they'll all likely be upgrades over Myers, the more categories like PIMs and +/- that get added into the mix the more Myers evens the field. That makes the categories really important it also means that the more extensive the pool the more likely you're going to be making a lateral move. Myers value is low so you'll be hard-pressed to get a correct valuation for Myers, whereas the others arent slumping to the same degree if at all. You dont need to worry about Myers being a 1 hit wonder. If you just don't like him, go ahead and deal him for any of the aforementioned young stud d, just wait until he turns it around. Now that you've put some other names out there ...
I think Myers is more of an all-around defenseman than an offensive defenseman who's going to put up 60+ points someday. I think Subban and Karlsson both have more upside. Maybe Johnson too (I'm assuming you mean Erik), although his diminished power-play role and Pietrangelo's presence as a future QB have me starting to think his long-term upside might be a little lower than previously thought. BTW, my previous comment wasn't directed toward you, though it probably looked that way since it's on a thread you started. I saw the NOTE on big_dl's comment and have been thinking the same thing since the season started and people started doubting players after only a couple of games. I posted a knee-jerk reply to that NOTE in general, not to anything about your original post. Sorry about that. Last edited by CommittedToTheIndian; 11-02-2010 at 11:10 PM. |

You're giving up on a potential Doughty because he's had a bad 10 or so games? Buffalo's D as a whole hasn't exactly looked great. Be patient and ride it out, this is what happens with young guys.

I think Myers is going to be a stud. He is still a puppy and will have ups and downs. Bailing on him now would be a big mistake IMO unless you are nailing down a Karlsson, Subban, Carlson, etc. in return.
