My team is having a good start to the season but my defense has been struggling. EJ and Greene have not contributed as I had anticipated. Would you jump ship on these two or just be patient. Some of my thoughts include:
EJ has been stuck on the second PP unit in STL but their power play is more of a 1A and 1B. Greene's +/- is killing me but recently he has seen some top PP duties. Are the devils really that bad? They have to turn the corner sooner rather that later, right? Any thoughts?

Well I think a quick solution here would be dropping the injured Boychuk but Andy Greene is also a candidate for dropping here. Even if New Jersey turns the corner, which seems unlikely with the Parise injury, Greene still isn't a lock for points. He's a must drop for me. EJ should still be productive you just gotta be patient.
I'm curious what your waiver wire options are.

Agreed. Be patient with EJ (especially in a keeper), but Greene might be droppable depending on the options.
