Best long-term potential for keeper league with standard points?
I'm leaning Carlson because of his situation. There is opportunity to put up monster numbers on WSH and I have little doubt Carlson is the real deal. I think he will surpass Green as their best defenseman sometime this year or next. Hedman is also in a great situation though. TB's PP is scary good and Hedman is logging a lot of minutes. I saw him quite a bit in the WC in Germany last year and this kid has serious skills. Last year was rough but adjusting to the N American game probably took a while. He could make huge strides this year and next. Pietrangelo is perhaps the most intriguing. His upside seems unlimited and should pair with E Johnson for years to come. I've seen him play a couple times this year and he has great vision and passing ability. Im guessing Carlson will get the most support, but how close are the other two long-term? Maybe an unpopular choice but I'll go with Hedman. Highly talented team, little competition for the top PP for the future and very skilled.
I like Carlson too but Green is the man in Washington for the time being. AP is nice too but I need to see more from him.

Pietrangelo really isn't even in the same conversation... He's comparable to the 2nd tier prospect Dman like Blum, Kindl, Goncharov... etc.
But man, the choice between Carlson and Hedman is really hard for me, and I own both... I don't know which I'd rather have. Gut feel says Hedman, brain says Carlson. So you decide which one to believe.

For me its the other way around. lol Gut telling me to go with Carlson, but brain says Hedman. I think it's because Hedman was so highly touted coming into the league...

I'm voting Carlson here. I think his upside is better and his downside ins't much below Hedman.

Hedman for me, he is really coming into his own this year. He's jumping in on rush and shooting more, just seems more comfortable this year.
Carlson has started off great but I don't think he'll keep it up. I expect a year like Del Zotto last. Start off with a bang and slump and slowly come back. I'm expecting him to get 43 points. As for over taking Green NO WAY, players like Green are few and far between. Don't mistake a streak for an elite ppg d-man.

Yeah I agree witht he guys above, piertangelo isnt at the same level as Carlson and Hedman. As for who I would rather have give me Carlson I just love the way the kid plays and my two cents says that green isnt in Washington past the end of his current contract, enter Carlson. Hedman is going to be a future stud as well but I just liek Carlson and his intangibles better.

Few and far between you mean like a forward playing defense? lol Maybe if you are talking strictly fantasy, but as real defesemen Carlson's overall game will be what puts him over the top. |

I've watched a ton of TB games already this year and last year. Hedman is for real and he's started joining the rush with a lot more confidence this season.
Carlson's a nice addition too, but Green is the man. THE MAN. And he's not going anywhere. Give me Hedman, that kid's gonna be something special.
