Here is a question for discussion: Everyone talks about the top teams for the future. But what about the bottom? What teams do we want to stay away from next year (07-08) and beyond (next 2-5 years) in terms of fantasy players?

There are two teams that I do not enjoy watching because of their style of play and thus their players do not have high upside.
1. Minnesota 2. Dallas To a lesser degree, New Jersey. (They do have several young players with good upside so maybe with a new coach their style of play will change). Mr. Hitchcock hasn\'t been in Columbus long enough so I haven\'t included them on the list (yet). I am hoping that Zherdev gets traded over the course of the summer. |

I do believe that there is much more parity in the league these days however teams that are more than a player away from putting it together over the next couple of years to be highly competitive seem to be Boston, Chicago, Phoenix, Colombus although each has a player or two with current fantasy merit and certainly some with that future diamond lustre.

Shoeless, I disagree about Boston. They\'ve got some great young talent and while I don\'t see them pulling it together next season, the following year I think they have great potential. I mean, check out their depth chart. Rask and an underrated Toivonen are top prospects in net; Chara will anchor the blue line in front of Lashoff and Stuart (GREAT two-way and physical talents, respectively); Savard, Bergeron and Kessel down the middle; Sturm and Axelsson on the LW; and Murray, Kalus and Bochenski on the RW. The Bruins need to make a couple of trades, draft picks or signings on the wings and blue line, but really they\'re not all that far from being a good team again. At the very least they won\'t deserve the \'bottom feeder\' title for long.

I think there is a Mark Stuart in beantown. I think he was drafted with the B\'s first rounder in 2003.
I think the B\'s can turn things around and be a playoff team but I am not sold on Bochenski, Kalus, and any other young players the B\'s have coming up. Well besides Kessel and Rask. They will have to build around Bergeron, Savard, and Chara. Sturm, Kobasew, and Chistov the verdict is still out.. Aswell H.Toivenen.

Yes, Mark Stuart. Punishing bodychecker, good wheels, excellent positioning, a real leader on and off the ice with future captain potential if he stays with the team for long enough. I do agree, they are weak along the wings. But a couple of good free agent signings (they don\'t even need to be flashy) would go a long way towards their making the playoffs again in 2008-09.
Also, PJ Axelsson is one of the most underrated players in the league. Post edited by: Thieving Giraffe, at: 2007/05/08 14:10

San Jose could get more than Murray for Tosky. A starter with a cheap cap hit...for another Right Wing.....They need a left wing and a right handed defenseman. Preferably players with grit and a drive to win. I\'m not so sure Murray is that kind of player.
