Gonchar has 3-4 years left at a high level. Chara will be around for a while, but is a signifigant downgrade. Although he will help PIM. Getting Vanek for Morrow in a keeper is pretty good.
Keeper Gonchar >> Chara factoring age Vanek >> Morrow long term I would be hesistant to do this deal in a keeper but it is close. Normally the best player wins when it is close, and it is hard to determine if the best player is Gonchar or Vanek. You lose 20-30 pts between Chara and Gonchar but gain long term with Vanek over Morrow, not necessarily short term. I could be way off base here but I think you stay with what you have. Keep Gonchar and Morrow and try to get Vanek a different way. Could you sell Michalek and Morrow/Kunitz for Vanek while he is slumping?
