My question is for a keeper league (that counts G,A,Points, +/-, PPG, PPA, GWG, and SOG) who would you rather have? I\'m trying to figure out who Im going to draft and I\'ve broken it down that these two players should be available when I draft in the 2nd round. Who should I take and why?

I would say Parise because you don\'t have shorthanded points as a category. Parise will be asked to step up aswell if Gomez decides his time in the swamp is over. Staal will always be behind Crosby and Malkin. But it is a close one. My opinion anyway. Goodluck God Sir.

It all boils down to PP minutes. I think Parise will only get more PP time if Gomez does flee the swamp. Staal will have to compete for time on the #1 PP unit with other more senior offensive players for the privilige to play on the #1 PP unit with Crosby, Malkin, Gonchar and Whitney. I also like the fact that Parise is 22 years old, not 18 years old. I know it\'s a keeper league, but players have their best years when they are in their mid-20\'s, not in their teens and Parise is 3 years older than Staal.

We are basically just starting up. This is our second year as a semi-keeper league (we\'re only allowed to keep 5 players, although I hope it gets bumped to 7 next year, and 2 \"minors\" - players that have played less than 10 NHL games and are already drafted).

My keepers so far are as follows: Lecavalier, Vokoun, Giguere. And then I\'m taking Backstrom (WAS)with the first overall pick this year. So I\'m just trying to round it out nicely and I\'ve narrowed it down to Parise and Staal.

Parise. I think he\'ll be a ways better than Staal.
Then again, Staal is on Pittsburgh.

I say Parise, but Staal being on Pittsburgh makes it tough.

I would say (in contrast to the previous post) Staal is the way to go. I say this not because he\'s in pittsburgh, but because Parise is in Jersey.

I would grab J. Staal because he is only 18 and had two less goals than Parise who is 4 years older. I know Staal has an issue with assists right now, but that will only get better as he gets more time on the most talented power play line in the league.
