is he the next YAHIN ??? or does he have the drive to get back to 90 - 100 pt range ??

I think Atl will be hurting offesivley next year unless get younger and better supporting cast ??

kovalchuk will never be a yashin type of player...

this guy just have a bad season, and its a 76points season, thats not that bad B)

he is 24, he is alone on a line with no skill, if you put a good playmaker with him, just like savard a year ago, hes gonna hit the 95pts season as soon as next year, this guy is to good offensivly to be a yashin, he is too explosive between the blue line and the net


thats my point of view...

It is interesting with Savard though. At the start of the season everyone, myself included, figured that Savard\'s numbers would suffer more from the loss of Kovalchuk when it looks now like it was the other way around.

Kovo will bounce back big next year.I think he will get 90pts playing by himself---100pts is not out of reach if they spend their Tkachuk $ wisely.He\'s skilled enough to get 50 goals on the same line as last year-things just didn\'t go his way.Don\'t forget he has Hossa on the P.P..Imagine if they snag a killer D-man to Q.B. THE POWERPLAY??!!He\'s no Yashin.........I wish Yashin was half a Kovochuk. P.S. Savard shocked me last year too and now must also be considered a stud.

I\'m surprised at all the talk of Savard being a shocker this year... The only thing that shocked me about Savard going to Boston is that Bergeron\'s numbers suffered so much (especially in plus/minus).

Savard has been turning into a stud for some time now, kovalchuk just helped him along and in getting noticed. The \"new\" NHL favors guys like savard, since he isn\'t especially big, but he\'s scrappy and quick. Add to that the fact that he doesn\'t enjoy playing defense (historically), and you\'ve got a guy that will put up tons of points.

Plus, if you watched some of his play in Atlanta, and some of the passes he could make, you would\'ve known long before he left A-town that he was worth something. It\'s for these reasons and more that I think Atlanta management is completely idiotic, because getting a center of his quality for 5 million is a pretty sweet deal.

Don\'t any of you guys remember that Savard had 65 points in 77 games for calgary in 2000-01? Or the fact that he had 47 points and 77 penalty minutes in 57 games for atlanta in 2002-03? This guy has been fantasy gold for a while now, especially in leagues that count penalty minutes.

Now that savard is getting out of his band-aid boy ways, he\'s going to put up 90 of more points a season for while. He would\'ve been doing it for the last 6 or 7 years if he didn\'t keep getting hurt all the time.
