Where did you get this info from that hes the top rated prospect? Or is it just me that didnt understand this post?

Defitnetly not me, would never pass up Patrick Kane to take Turris, no offence to Turris since he will be a top talent and will probably end up going to the Kings, but as Chicago I cant see them passing up on Kane. A line of Havlat-Toews-Kane just seems to unreal to pass up.

For those who don\'t know what the OP is talking about, the Central Scouting Bureau released their final rankings today. The CSB is the NHL\'s official scouting branch.

I\'d like to write an article about it, but for now, let me just say there\'s a lot I don\'t agree with. While the CSB ranks players soley on how far they are away from the NHL, that doesn\'t excuse a lot of the weird stuff that goes on every year. Fpr example, re-entry guys are often dinged just because they\'re older- Paul Stastny was ranked 72nd last year!

-A definite surprise to see Turris at #1, especially considering a) his underwhelming U18s and b) Voracek\'s ridiculously good playoffs.

-Speaking of Voracek... the CSB ranked him 7th-best North American skater! 7th! And it\'s an even bigger insult since there\'s both a North American skaters list and a European skaters list. They\'re basically saying they think Jakub Voracek is the 10th best player in the draft!

-Alzer stayed steady at #5. I think he\'ll take a drop in the rankings from other scouting services, though. The top six players in this draft are forwards, and the smart teams go BPA.

You can view the Final Rankings Here.

I can\'t see how they can compare Turris to the others. He hasn\'t played against top competition except at the U18\'s and didn\'t dominate. He\'s good but that\'s too high. Does anyone know what the highest a Tier II player has been drafted? I know a few have gone first round but usually its mid round.

He can\'t be compared - that\'s why I think he is a wildcard and with Kane\'s small size I just may look to Turris if Cherapanov is the first overall pick (I draft second). In my other pool, I draft seventh...so I\'ll definitely be looking at Turris for that one.
I\'m bouncing back and forth between all three of these guys, plus Voracek. If Voracek can nail down his consistency, he\'ll be a superstar.

Dobber,

I\'m trying to think back to a draft where there was so much disagreement on the order of so many picks (including first overall). Any comparisons that you can think of?

Spezza and Kovalchuk year seems to be around the same, no one could have decided who was going to go first or second, it was like having Crosby and Ovechkin in the same draft.

1990 comes closest they had five top guys that could have gone number 1.

Owen Nolan
Peter Nedved
Keith Primeau
Mike Ricci
Jaromir Jagr

All of them thought of at the time as number ones if they were in other years. Also the 1990 first round had some other big names...Sydor, D. Hatcher, Tkachuk and some goalie named Brodeur who went 20th overall. Doug Weight I think was a second round pick in that draft. but for top end debate I remember that one was flip of the coin as to who would go number one.

sakic19 and gdon, thanks.

I had thought of 1990 too but the problem with both of these comparisons is that nobody is suggesting that were Kane to be in next year\'s or last year\'s draft that he would be a clear number one. In fact the consensus (if only because there is no consensus on a number one) is that this is a rather weak draft. I tend to think Bugg is right that all the dissing of this year\'s draft is owing from super-star envy which is why I was wondering about comparisons.
