Default Alfredsson for Marleau

Hey all, it\'s a large keeper league (all players kept) and I\'m very deep at RW. I\'m having trouble filling my C and LW slots so I\'m shopping some of my RW depth. We score G, A, +/-, PM, and GWG.

RW depth:
St. Louis
Alfredsson
Demitra
Radulov
Kovalev

In the top 300, Marleau is right after Alfy (.1pt difference) and is 6 years younger as well, although he\'s only played 2 less years in the NHL. Would you give up Alfy for Marleau in this league? If not, what level of extra would you need to make it work? (what round entry pick or level of extra player?)

Thanks!

I think I would keep Alfie until he dies...he is that valuable. Maybe Id trade him for Marleau and a Zajac type player who is on his way up.

Thanks shook!! I appreciate the advice!

Ok, I\'m getting so many offers for my RWers now. Please post a comment on these trades and tell me what you think. Keep in mind that we\'re talking about a huge dynasty league, so while some may look ludicrous at face value, they may be better in the long run and for how my team is structured.

Also, you don\'t have to be a pro to tell me what you think. The fact that you\'re reading this tells me enough that I\'d like to hear your opinion.

Here\'s what I\'m looking at:

Alfy for Marleau (could probably get a bit more, but not much)

St. Louis for P. Bergeron (two 70pt seasons and only 22, hurt now I know)

St. Louis and Demitra for Malkin (might have to go St. Louis and Alfy though?? And they might not trade him regardless. Kind of an inside story here with this GM.)

Again, dynasty league and I have a good team. My only problem is that I\'m pretty young in some areas and therefore weak there. Not a big problem though, and my goal is to always be competitive and improving. I\'m going to post my shortened roster below, so as to show the depth. I\'m sorry that it\'s big, but it is??

Thanks for any advice!! I really need it on this. Not sure if I need to make any of these moves for certain, and not sure if the moves themselves are worth it even if I do. Trying to balance being good now and going forward. All players kept, so the entry draft and trading is the only way to improve. That\'s why I\'m considering sending some studs who are aging away for younger help in areas I\'m a bit weaker in. Anyway, thanks.

Good team...I like deep leagues, more challenging and filters out the scrub owners.

Wow, I must say that your team is incredibly young. I think I would plot out what year/season you want to make your move for the championship...that may help determine who to stick with for the long haul. A few things to keep in mind...Marleau is in his contract year and is under-performing. He had a terrible shoulder injury that was hidden from the public (and revealed in the off-season) that limited ability to score regularly. Look at his stats before and after February of last year, when the injury took place. I don\'t know if he\'s completely healed. Also, it is possible that he may end up on another team. This could be a positive or negative thing based on where he goes...obviously.

Kovalev is having too good a season to be on your bench, and Demitra is very injury prone and on the downside of his career. I\'d try to move one of them instead of Alfie. I like Morozov...he\'ll be money if he returns to the NHL.

Mueller, Brassard, and Nilsson should be good for you in a few years...so it really depends on when you want to make that move. I\'d say maybe two or three seasons. That might be a stretch for Alfie, but don\'t settle for a lower level player...find that owner who is desperate to win now and willing to give up that future stud.

I like St. Louis, and he still has several good years in him, especially if he is still beside Vinny (Lecavalier, not Prospal ). Bergeron doesn\'t seem to like to take penalties, neitehr does Marleau for that matter (frustrating). St. Louis is more of a goal scorer than Bergeron, and likely will have more GWGs. With your league steup, I\'d shoot for snipers...as game winning assists don\'t get you anything.

Hope this info helps...

The only trade I might do out of any of them is the St. Louis/Demitra for Malkin trade. I wouldn\'t do it if Alfie was in istead of Demitra. Bergeron may be younger than St. Louis, but St. Louis is in his prime and is a proven producer. He\'s still got a bunch of years left, so I wouldn\'t do that deal right now. I\'m also not a huge Marleau fan as long as he and Big Joe are both in SJ. The lines are all over the place there, and Marleau is suffering. However, if he gets traded and gets some chemistry as a #1 centre, I would think about the Alfie/Marleau deal a little more.

Edit: looking at your roster and I saw Mayorov down there. I watched him during the Canada-Russia series, and this guy\'s got serious skills. He\'s also a big guy, and he\'s got decent wheels. If he ever comes over to the NHL, I\'d keep my eye on him.

Thanks immensely guys. That\'s exactly what I needed. Kind of a reality check. Sometimes when I shop some guys and get a bunch of responses I end up getting a cluttered head and my reasoning gets all askew.

I pulled the offers (or more to the point said they needed to be better for me to consider them but I\'ll talk counters), other than the one for Malkin.

Again, I appreciate the responses! They all helped!
