I got offered Kane for my Backstrom (WAS, not MIN). The other GM is very savvy, I know he thinks he is selling Kane high and getting Backstrom low. Keeper league, but I am in a very good position to win this year.
What do y\'all think? |

Go for it. Isn\'t Kane an RW and Backstrom just a C? If that helps, the more reason to do this trade. Kane has just as much chance to win the Calder than Backstrom.

No benefit for rw vs. c in my league, we just have F and D.

In my 9-team keepers league (each keep 8), I drafted Backstrom was drafted in the 2nd round, Toews was taken in the 5th round by someone, and Kane was taken in round 11.
Although we had the draft in the pre-season, I was quite sure that Kane will make the team while the rest of the GMs had their doubts. Anyways, I traded Backstrom for a couple of first round waiver picks in the future years (where players like Radulov, Malkin, Fleury had been picked up). The guy wanted to trade me Toews for Backstrom, but I turned him down on the basis that Backstrom was worth more. Now getting to your case, with no positional requirements, I would see if he can squeeze more (throw in a draft pick here and there or something). If Backstrom plays with Ovechkin, he has the potential to be a Malkin to a Crosby. However, Backstrom\'s value is heavily influenced with his connection with Ovechkin, while Kane\'s value is purely talent based. Kane may be small, but in the new NHL that wouldn\'t really matter.

I like Kane long term - I always go with the North American player if other things are equal - they are simply more predictable, especially regarding contractual issues.

Backstrom might play with Ovechkin someday, but just remember that Kane will play with Toews,

F\'n guy is getting cold feet now. C**ktease.
I still like Backstrom to start picking it up with Semin back now but Kane is hard to resist. Thanks for the input all! |
