Its hard finding guys as knowledgeable and into fantasy hockey as I am... but I guess this is what I have to do in order to maintain a competitively balanced team?

Its hard managing a balanced, active, and fun dynasty league. Usually half the GMs go into hibernation mode and either don't check trades or post on the message boards... I don't get it. If you aren't serious about fantasy hockey why bother joining a money league?

Now I just feel terrible and am seriously contemplating quitting fantasy hockey. It sucks feeling so guilty for building yourself a great fantasy team that you enjoy.

HELP ME fix my league...

1. how do I balance it back out?
2. how can I get the current GMs to be more active?
3. how can I make the league better?

Ben here are a couple ideas..

1) Honestly the team isnt that good so its gonna be hard to find a guy to pay the league fee ( I think you said it was $30? ) So my suggestion is you eat the $30 and find a good owner to take that team and TRY to improve it.

2) After the season you contract down to 14 teams and re adjust the divisions accordingly.

3) Start over haha ( dont start over )

ben..to rebalance a league you can try a few things...

1)cut out the GMs who arent serious and then redraft from their players...so you wind up with a league of 14 or 12 or whatever
2)limit the keepers so that guys are forced to throw some of the talent back into the pool each year
3)institute a salary cap so you cant stockpile the best talent indefinately and need to move them for cap relief via trades

I hear ya Ben...my league just started this year and I've already had guys say my team is so sick that no one will want to do it again next year. pisses me off to no end...we have to feel bad about drafting and trading for an amazing team? anyway, my league is 14 teams and we only keep 8. My 8 this year are looking like Crosby,Ovechkin,Tavares,Stamkos,Hossa,Goligoski,Ca mpbell and maybe delzotto...pronger or Quick. If after next year and I've won everything again an option could be to lower the keeper number even more to 6. Its possible that I would have to come up with a drop your 3rd and 4th best players every year cause guys want to own one of the big 3 etc. sux but the way it is.

Yeah thanks guys. A bunch of the guys in my league are brainstorming some ideas. Seems like a lot of the guys aren't hibernating after all! We're thinking about cutting the league down to 14 and using a non snake draft to help out the lower seeded teams or redraft the 3 lowest participating teams now and finding owners for them asap.

Im not a big fan of the keeper thing. I was really thinking about it earlier today to be honest but concluded that it brings just as much negatives as it does positives.

And Id understand that my team was so stacked if it were a points or roto league but in H2H anything can happen! People don't realize that. I lost 5 weeks out of 21 or so last year with the team I have in my sig... two of those losses came to the 2 worst teams last year (even though I would've beaten them any other week other than the two I played each on)... the other came in the championship final. That suckkked!

This is my 2nd year in Bens League and just wanted to say he has been a great LM and has been nothing but fair and honest in his dealings,and i know he'll do whats best for the League.

I've figured it to be 1 out of 5 strangers brought in from random ads on various fantasy boards work out to become good gm's.

give them a team , they make a few weird moves , quit

hire next guy , he does the same

next thing you know , the team has changed hands too often and you can see the scars left by each deadbeat .

I actually gave my good team that I built over 5 seasons to a new gm so I could take on building 2 of the ruined teams (we dont play for money though)
