Keeper league, points and wins only. 11 teams, 2nd year of 5 total (3 seasons left after this one) Roster of 11 active players, 5 on bench. At the end of the year, we can only keep 10 players for the next year.

I traded: Hemsky, Backstrom (WAS), Bryzgalov + 5th rounder
I got: Jagr + Carter + Mara + 1st rounder


The guy I was trading with is rebuilding (thus his 1st rounder will be in the top 5 probably) and I was thinking Backstrom (the main player HE gets) might not even be close to his prime in 3 years and I can\'t really afford to keep protecting him if the doesn\'t make enough points to be on my roster this year or the next one. Another advantage in my mind is I only traded one of my roster players (Hemsky) and 2 prospects to get a superstar. This might help me me win my pool this year.

The only downside would be if Backstrom explodes to get 85 points next season and/or if Jagr decides to hang his skates this summer (next year is an option on his contract I think) What do you think?

With that kind of setup you won. Carter is an excellent pick up too. You may want to ditch Mara and pick up someone who is playing.
