This guy intrigues me. The Panthers just signed him. He is a former ECHL player who has played in Europe for the last six or seven years. His numbers playing for HIFK Helsinki have improved every year.

He is second on the team in scoring behind Stephen Guolla a former NHLer. Rem Murray is fourth on the team in scoring. Also on this team? Billy Tibbets - King of the meatheads! haha


One of my most admired players in the world also plays on this team: Jere Karalahti. Why? Because he loved to drink and party, and when the Kings asked him to stop, he told them \"no\". When they suspended him and put him in a program, he said \"Well...I could make the same amount of money in Finland and continue enjoying my beer so...see ya!\"

Anyway - Murphy looks like he could be one of those late bloomers who comes over and pots 40 points in the NHL. Decent dark horse for deep leagues that require d-men.

good scoop Dobber. If he puts up those kinda points, how does this affect Bouwmeester\'s and Van Ryn\'s numbers?

Indeed by looking at his stats, he\'s an offensive guy. Wouldn\'t you say that he looks more as an Andy Delmore?

But wait....the guy has 50 pts in 45 games and is a plus+17. If the Panthers are more serious next season about the playoffs, is Murphy the guy who\'s going to get 20+ minutes of icetime? I\'m not sure about this one.

With Salei established as the No.3 guy for the power play, and Bouwmeester ready to be No.1, it will be between Van Ryn and Murphy. I would expect Van Ryn to go to a new team this summer if they are truly confidant in Murphy.

When IS J-Bo gonna become a number 1?
Look at Whitney, granted a far superior supporting cast but still,
R-Whits went 5th the year J-Bo went 3rd, but it appears Whits has more offensive upside.

In your opinion, what are the ceilings for both?

I really think Whitney could get 80 points on this team. Wow, I know. But think about it - Crosby could very well get 150-160 points within two years. Malkin could very well get 120++ that same year. So what would the No.1 guy on the point get? I hesitate to say Paul Coffey and his 120 points...

Bouwmeester would be doing the same thing in Pittsburgh, I think. But in Florida his upside is 65 tops.
