Well, he let in 2 goals on 12 shots in yesterday's game against the Leafs. Blip or a sign of things to come? This guy is a key player this year in fantasy world - he's either going to make a whole bunch of GMs really happy or is going to generate a legion of haters if he screws up this chance. What's everyone's take?

Ray Emery...

1. is looking for a contract.
2. fits in perfectly with the tough-guy culture of Philly.
3. has already taken a team to the stanley cup finals.
4. has no backup worthy of starting.
5. plays for one of the best teams in the league
6. has Pronger in front of him for 20 minutes a game.

Emery will have a monster season.

I agree with BladesOfSteel, the recipe is too good for Philly this year. They have so much fire power up front, to beat Philly you will have to out score them which will be tough. The only down side with Emery is, he's not going to steal you much points in the Shutout department.

I'm an Ottawa fan and remember watching him and it would be in third period, Sens up and Emery always let the goose egg go in the third, what a killer for Fantasy owners!

Emery hasn't looked good this preseason, which is where your concern likely lies. Not to worry though because the Flyers defense in general hasn't looked good, aside from the Pronger/Carle tandem. I blame it purely on chemistry. The guys haven't clicked yet, but they will. As everyone else writes, there's too much talent on the Flyers roster for them to flake this year. I'd bet that Emery gets 35-40 wins this year. It's not a guarantee, but I'd put it at 85% likely.

I've got the #1 pick in my league. And the question is Tavares or Emery.

I'm concerned that Emery could flake out, thus screwing me royally. Anyone heard of any shenanigans in Philly?

Chico, i'm a supporter of Emery but don't pass up Tavares for him.

Blades, don't you see Boucher as a viable starter?

Personally, I think Emery will be fine for most of the reasons that BoS stated. I don't see him as a top 10 goalie, but Philly should be strong enough offensively to carry him to a solid season. I would expect similar numbers as to what Theo put up in Washington last year.

just my $.02
