At 19 years of age and leading the NHL in scoring do you think it will ever come to the point where Crosby is outlawed in fantasy pools like Gretzky was back in the day...??

No I don\'t think the point difference will be as large as what that generation was putting up. I say generation because it wasn\'t just Gretz, but the 5th place guy was still getting 120-130 points. 5 fifty goal scorers on one team(like the Oil had one year)....Don\'t see it happening, even with the new NHL.

I think he will remain the top pick for years to come, but he shouldn\'t be outlawed.

This is really interesting - I\'m a bit of a youngster (mid-twenties), so I never played in a fantasy league where gretzky would have be \"outlawed\".

Was this common? Did they do the same thing for Lemieux?

\"Should\" he be outlawed? Of course not. \"Will\" he be outlawed? Of course so!

Lots of one-year fantasy pools will start removing Crosby from eligibility in two or three years. He\'ll have a couple of 180-point years, and when guys like Malkin and Ovechkin are second in scoring but 40 points back, some administrators will feel that the first overall pick would give an unfair advantage to the person that has it.

Both Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky were blocked from a lot of pools in their day.

If it\'s a one year pool, there is something to be said about that rule. Keeper leagues, there has never been to my knowledge a player banned.

I do remember the days when Gretzky was outlawed. We revised that in our pools to force a choice between Gretzky goals or assists. I am not saying that Sid can score like Gretzky did in the day but most of the pools I am in give extra credit for goals and more importantly special teams goals.

I\'ve never been a fan of getting rid of a player. Splitting goals and assists is a much better way. Dobber you really think he\'s going to outscore the 2nd place guy by 50 or 60? I don\'t think it will be that big a difference. He\'ll have a dozen Art Ross trophies in his cabinet but I don\'t think the spread will be like what it was back in the 80s.

I would have a better educated opinion if I got to see him play every once in a while... Living out west it\'ll be a few years since he graces Edmonton.

It depends how points are counted. In my pool, goals count for 1.5 and assists for 1. Lecavalier is only a few points behind Crosby. On the other hand, we count only wins and shutouts... Brodeur is over 10 times further ahead of the next guy than Crosby, but no one is talking about outlawing him.

If you outlaw Crosby, keep in mind there\'s another guy named Tavares you\'ll have to outlaw too.
