Is this a no-brainer? (for next season):
My Blake/Souray for his Whitney/Vanek.
As a re-building team I like the youth and the fact that my two are sell high candidates, my only concern is Vanek... He seems like the real deal but is there a chance that this season was a fluke? I\'m leaning towards a very hasty yes if this trade materializes in my inbox, but I\'m just curious if theres any reason to think twice.
(Oh yeah- before anyone starts yelling about what a dunce I must be for not jumping all over this: this is just an idea right now and he said he needs some time during the off season to mull it over before he commits/counter-offers.)

both Blake and Souray are UFA, so there are to some degree an unknown although one could assume the habs will open the pocketbook to keep souray in the fold. With Sheldon you know what you are getting, major points and his is a top producer.

I traded for Vanek last year (some GM\'s laughed at me at the time) and I\'ve been smiling all season. I acquired Ryan Whitney in the draft, and his future is very bright.

Emu... even if you have to drop in another player like a Brunette or a young prospect that is a few years away from playing in the NHL, I would still do it. And I would do it now, before he realizes the true value of both of the players that he is offering.

I too assume it\'s Jason Blake. I think you should sweeten the deal before BUF and PIT go deep into the playoffs and he gets to see how good both of those players really are. Brunette or better would be a worthwhile addition. You will have Whitney and Vanek on your team for years.
