I just completed this trade and want to hear your thoughts.

The team is in the sig, and we start 2C, 2LW, 2RW, 6F, 6D, 2G so positions aren\'t too important. Are salaries are the player\'s yearly salaries not cap hit.

Team beforehand:

C - Little, Bolland, Matthias, Boyd, Zubov
RW - Brown, Radulov, Tangradi, Skille, Halischuk, Grabner
LW - Ovechkin, Frolov, A Kostitsyn, Higgins, Tim Kennedy
D - Kaberle, Liles, Doughty, Bergeron

I was pretty good on forwards and pretty weak on D so I traded Frolov for Ryan Whitney and Troy Brouwer. Also, I think Frolov is going to get a big time contract next summer.

Team now:

RW - Brown, Radulov, Tangradi, Brouwer, Skille, Halischuk, Grabner

So what do you all think? I\'m also looking to be competitive in a year or two so the short term isn\'t really what I\'m worried about.

No love for Brouwer on this end, so I look at this like a straight up deal Frolov for Whitney. Your forwards are good enough, so I like that you upgraded your shakey D. I would grab Caputi, Grachev, or another prospect if available, especially if you are a couple of years out and send Brouwer packing.

Whitney is a solid pick up and should be hitting his prime just when you are contending. As you are a couple years away, consider Jonathan Blum over Bergeron.

Whitney for Frolov would have been an even trade straight up IMO, and as you stated you needed help at D so the trade made sense for your team. While Brouwer will never become anything special IMO, Whitney is one of the better young defenseman out there Frolov\'s point totals have declined for three straight seasons. I think you\'ll prove to be the winner of this deal.

Any deal involving trading away FROLOV is a great deal. Mark my words, he will be playing in the KHL next year. he is in that 4-5 million dollar range now and will expect that same amount or more which will be hard to come by in this new cap strapped NHL. The KHL will offer him more money and he will run..
