My Varlamov+Sedin for his Getzlaf.

Would you, if you were in my shoes, offer up this deal? I have been after Getzlaf for some time now and have never been able to pry him from his owner. I have no idea whether I would be giving up way too much with this offer or not. I could offer a Varlamov + Oshie combo but that is too weak I think. Perhaps I should ask for a draft pick in return or a prospect. Perhaps I should hold on tight to Varlamov and enjoy the ride.

Love to hear some comments.

Hmmmm...Thats a tuff 1, im lookin at your goales and thinkin Varlamov would be a nice addition to Lundqvist cuz thomas aint got much time left...BUT u could always go after another goalie later cuz u still got a couple years before he comes back to earth ...I Like getz he\'s 1 of my fav players and i would probably make the sacrifice just to be able to see him on my team every time i log on ..lol...Go for it!

I would hold onto Varlamov. With your stats goalies are pretty vaulable and I think him and sedin is too much of an overpayment.

People want to point out how badly theodore did last year, but he still had over 30wins in under 60games played. Varlamov should be good for 35-40 wins a year on the Caps, and at 7pts per win in your league, I wouldnt give that up.

i would make that deal. Varlamov hasnt proved anything really except that he played well for a couple good weeks. He\'s got a lot of pressure next year too with Neurvith pushing him from beind. He\'s too young (and a goalie - who are hot and cold...see Ellis) to know what the future holds for him. You would be getting a top 5 player in the NHL and one hell of a multi-cat contributor with 100+ point potential.

I think I would do this deal.

Under our scoring system last year Getzlaf averaged 6.7 fantasy points per game and Sedin 5.8..........
That is roughly 4th vs 12th in overall ranking.

With total points Getzlaf was 4th overall for C\'s in our league and Sedin 11th.

I sure am tempted to go after Getzlaf even if it costs me.

I would do the deal. Im a huge getzlaf fan, the guy is a fantasy monster. He\'s the number for fantasy guy behind the big 3 in my opinion, and he\'s not as far off from them as people think.

I do not like Getzlaf.

That said, I still think I like this deal for you. It could be a slight over-payment if Varlamov makes good on all his promise, but he has a few hurdles to leap over before he establishes himself as an NHL star (potential move to the KHL, Neuvirth breathing down his neck). A few have also mentioned some less-than-stellar glove work that could hamper his development. Even if Varlamov proves to be a top NHL goalie moving forward, you still have a young beast in Lundqvist to anchor your team for the next decade... and Thomas as an excellent compliment for the next year or two. In that time, you can add a second stellar goalie, if you so desire (maybe target someone like Markstrom next season).
