Default Bernier vs Denis

Hello all.

I currently have Nabakov as my #1 tender and Denis as my #2 in my keeper league.

Stats that count for points in my league are saves (0.04 per save...25 saves is 1 point), wins (0.5), loses (-0.5) and shutouts (2).

I am wondering if I should keep Denis, or dump him for Bernier.

Chances are that I wouldn\'t be able to keep Bernier after this season, so this would just be a 1 year comparison.

Thoughts?

Funny!

I have the same senerio and I really want Bernier but do you think he will be back in the minors after his 9 games in the NHL?
Is that not how it works?
If they send him down after that he would have to clear waivers..
Can you help us Dobber?

If Bernier doesn\'t stick after 9 games, he will be sent back to junior and can\'t be recalled. If he keeps playing like he did today, he\'ll stay, but if you take him now you\'re definitely taking a risk that he\'ll be sent back.

Denis has looked great and will be the starter for Tampa... but he looked great for the first few weeks last year, too. Tough call.

If you have depth and this is not your regular starter, take Bernier. If this is your Goalie2 and you start 2, you may want to play it safe.

THis is also soemthing I\'m interested in. Will Bernier be sent down in favour of LaBarbera? He was afterall the best goalie in the AHL last year, so would they waste a year of Bernier\'s contract?

And with Denis, he lost the job last year, but he has apparently recovered. Im not the type of person to believe that history will necessarily repeat itself, but I\'m just not sure if he\'s worth a pickup.

I was told by staff with Lewiston that they were told not to expect Bernier to be returning with them.

I don\'t know the situation. If they send Bernier to the AHL, does that begin his rookie contract? So the only way to keep it from starting would be sending him back to his junior team? Also, what do they do then with LaBarbera?

I very well may be wrong on this, as I\'m still trying to learn the particulars of the collective bargaining agreement, but I don\'t think Bernier can be sent to the AHL. I know Lombardi would like to as a way to expose the kid to tougher competition, but I believe if he is sent down he HAS to go to Juniors. This isn\'t necessarily a bad thing because the waiver/FA \"clock\" doesn\'t start ticking on Bernier while he is in Jrs. Hopefully someone can verify/clarify this for us.
