As great as Kovalchuk is, he\'s not worth Datsyuk and Kaberle. You\'d be giving up 2 fantasy studs for 1. I wouldn\'t do it.

And dude, your team is pretty stacked. Why the need to rebuild? Most of your guys are young great prospects, or players just hitting their prime.

I agree you dont really need to re-build, if anything I\'d trade Lehtonen and some more minor offensive players and try to solidify my goaltending. Lehtonen\'s god but he has injury problems. If you could upgrade him to someone more stable i\'d like your chances to win now.

I\'d rather have the elite winger. I always encourage consolidating.

BUT... I just noticed you have to fill 6 D spots in the lineup. That sux! D sux. You are forced to keep Kaberle as a result.

Default I wold really consider it.

Normally I would say that it is crazy.

But it really depends on your scoring categories.

You have enough talent long and short term to overcome.
J. Johnson is good for almost any year but this one.
E.J. could end up a PP mainstay even with the STL depth at D as the rest are more stay at home types.
Vish is a staple for 2 more years.
Pitkanen will be better than judged. Because of the lack of forward potential, I think Pitkanen and Souray will be the PP in EDM.

Kaberle as much as I love the guy (I\'m from T.O)is not as good on paper as he is in real life. If pims are a + category in your league you can trade him. He is really only a points and PP guy. Especially with the big switch by yahoo to SOG instead of GWG Kaberle is now worth less because he is an average shooter at best, numbers wise. Ability doesn\'t mean oppurtunity or the desire to take the shot when given the puck. yes (critics) he is geting better at shooting more often, but given your team he is better as trade bait.

Also Datsyuk is about as good as he is gonna get. Kovalchuk can get better with an actual decent center. Last year was a blip and he still got 40 goals. I would take the trade or try one last round of deplomacy and see if you can trade Datsyuk, Kaberle and prospect for Kovalchuk for a Center upgrade or prospect upgrade.

Let the other guy think he has won, but get a little more in return.
You have the depth, don\'t know if he does.

I wouldn\'t do that deal. Datsyuk is a PPG guy and 90 points would seem well within reach for him this season and for a number to come. Tomas Kaberle is a top 5 fantasy d-man and it isn\'t like he is old at 29! I love Kovalchuk as a player but to me I wouldn\'t think about moving two very talented players for one superstar -- especially considering that you have to play so many d-men.

Giving up WAY too much, and according to me Datsyuk is better then Kovalchuk. Hes done much more then he has and Kovalchuk im not sure whats happening with him but that flair isnt there anymore.

assuming 50 goals for kovalchuk, 30 ppg, 8gwg, plus more pim than datsyuk, kovie looks pretty good. but t.kab will push top 5 for d-men pts, so you need some real cojones to do this deal, imo. :S
