I\"m trying to figure out who to have on my bench for a 10 team roto league with the following offensive cats:
G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, Shots, SH% We start 6 D per team, here\'s my starting 6: 1. S. Gonchar - PIT 2. R. Whitney - PIT 3. S. Weber - NSH 4. K. Bieksa - VAN 5. T. Poti - WSH 6. C. Murphy - FLA My bench has only one D: BN B. Seabrook - CHI Available FA: M. Johansson - CHI J. Leopold - COL M. Komisarek - MON K. Johnsson - MIN K. Russel - CLB K. Pilar - ATL N. Paetsch - BUF B. Stuart - LA P. Ranger - TB N. Kronwall - DET P. Martin - NJ A. Greene - NJ F. Kaberle - CAR D. Sydor - PIT K. Letang - PIT B. Coburn - PHI K. Rachunek - NJ Z. Michalek - PHO T. Gilbert - EDM K. Cumiskey - COL Am I better off holding on to Seabrook or picking up one of these guys? Leopold is looking pretty good to me right now... Post edited by: shook81, at: 2007/09/25 17:21

If Stuart was on virtually any other team than LA, I would take him over Seabrook...and I still might even though the Kings\' defensive depth is pretty significant.
Aside from Stuart I would also consider Frantisek Kaberle in Carolina as well as Paul Martin in New Jersey. If you held a gun to my head and forced me to pick one guy, I would probably take Kaberle and hope that he could actually stay healthy for a change :P |

Kris Russel has huge upside if he sticks with the team and plays on their pp. He\'s been the best dmen in the bluejackets camp so far and everyone is raving about him. He was bascially a point a game man in juniors.

Seabrook is the better than any of those listed. Hang on to him until something better comes along. Dear God, Frank Kaberle or Paul Martin, eewwww

Come on Comish! Kaberle is actually going to see considerable 1st unit PP time with the Canes and he does have some offensive talent. The problem is that the guy hasn\'t been healthy for awhile. If he can stay on the ice, he can produce...I think

Thanks for the advice thus far fellas...keep it coming. I\'d love to hear more opinions on this.
I\'ve heard Rachunek and Greene have outplayed Martin on the PP thus far in NJ, so I\'m pretty much staying away from all three (NJ isn\'t a scoring machine anyways). Kaberle has potential to do well on that Carolina squad if Staal and co. start firing on all cylinders, but his propensity for injuries is great. Plus, I\'ve heard he said he is uncomfortable with moving to the right side of defense this year. Stuart has been logging a lot of PP time on LA this year, but he has done nothing in 3 games (-1, 4 SOG). I know it\'s only pre-season and I do agree he is in the top 3 of FA pickups. What do you all think of Leopold? Liles is the man, for sure, but I can\'t imagine a team with as much offense as Colorado won\'t translate into more points for Leopold (if he stays healthy that is). So far in the pre-season he has 1G, 1A, +1, with 2 SOG in 3 games. Post edited by: shook81, at: 2007/09/25 17:50

I had Paetsch last season and was surprised at both how well he performed on the PP and how often he was dissed by Ruff. So far in the pre-season they\'ve been having him on the PK but not on the PP. This was disconcerting news for me...
Has anyone heard anything new about Braydon Coburn\'s role in Philly? He seems to be logging a good amount of time on both the PP and PK.

So you guys would still take Murphy over Seabrook? even in a roti league that counts PIMS? Seabrook had over 100 PIMS last year, and potentially has a role on the PP.. also, has played #1 minutes over the pre-season in each game he\'s played for the \'hawks... along with a 25-30 point range..
Will Murphy be THAT good?? i don\'t see him getting many PIMs... and does he jump over Van Ryn in the PP setup in florida?? |

Kakow...based on what I saw today in the Hawks/Panthers game, Murphy will bypass Van Ryn and get a spot on that 1st PP unit in Florida. He won\'t get as many PMs for you as Seabrook would (although I don\'t think Seabrook will get 100 PMs again...he fought more last season than he rightly should have and with Koci around he won\'t need to brawl much this year!)but he should be better in the G/A/PPP categories and I think his +/- will be better than Seabrook\'s.
