according to the nashville tennessean:
Coach Barry Trotz will start playing his hot goaltender as Nashville heads towards the playoffs. There are only ten games left in the regular season and coach Barry Trotz says that he will go with his most effective goaltender. That may be bad news for Tomas Vokoun owners who thought that Vokoun would get most of the starts down the stretch and good news for Chris Mason owners who didn\'t expect much. Trotz will go with the hot goalie in the playoffs as well, so be careful when choosing a Nashville goaltender in your playoff pool. due to the fact that budaj will play every game from here on in for colorado for hopes to make the playoffs should i try to offer this trade or should i stand pat? i know its not necessary to get heatley but the spezza heatley combo at this stage in the game sounds very appealing to me. or should i try niedermayer and vokoun if i do try since i have such a surplus of Dmen? I would do this deal in a one year pool. As you mentioned, Budaj will get more starts and quite possibly more wins in the final 11 games. Even if he doesn\'t, the point differential will be close. Goes without saying the Heatley will out perform Huselius; enough so to offset anything lost with Vokun and Budaj. Had this trade been a in a keeper league I would be much more hesistant to pull the trigger.

I would do this if it isn\'t a keeper league. Huselius is having a great year, but Heatley is a proven fantasy stud.
If it is a 1 year league...do the deal as Budaj will get twice as many starts as Vokoun, and the Avs are playing great, and Nasville has a lot of injuries... |

I don\'t know that it really \"goes without saying that heatley will outpreform huselius\" in the closing weeks. It\'s been fairly close the last few months.
Since January 1st, heatley has 46 points while huselius has 42 in the same span. Heatley is a proven stud though, and I agree that this trade shouldn\'t be made in a keeper league, as no one knows what budaj\'s status will be next year. Colorado could very well try to replace him.

Of those 46 points that Heatley had, 22 of them were goals. Huselius had only 15 in that same time span. If you are in a pool that offers extra points for goals, as many pools do, this is significant; to say nothing of they’re +/- since January 1st (+21 vs +14 respectively). Both have been good to be sure, but lets be honest here, Huselius won’t outdo Heatley in the next 11-12 games.

Heatley is money in the bank for keeper leagues, but it would depend on who your other goalies are. If Budaj becomes your No.1...well, that could be trouble. If he becomes your No.2 than definitely do the deal.

Yeah. I agree heatley is the better one to have through the remaining games (I get the benefit of owning both of them in my keeper league), I was just trying to say that it\'s not as unbalanced as some people might say/think.
They will put up similar numbers through the rest of the year. A Eric Staal/Heatley comparison would be much more skewed for example.
