Default Next LW in line?

I talked a bit about this in a previous post(http://www.dobberhockey.com/componen...23253/catid,5/), but I want to create a separated post for my LW dilemma.

We\'ve started our draft and I currently have Spezza, Vanek, Gaborik, Ryan Whitney, T.Kaberle and H.Lundqvist and will definitely go with a LW for my next pick but still don\'t know who to pick. I\'m thorn between young \"keeper\" worth players like Nash, Frolov or Parise and old proven ones like Brunette, Kariya, Kozlov, Smyth or even Huselius. It\'s a Yahoo pts only keeper league using P(2), PPP(1), SHP(2) scoring categories for the skaters. What would you do?

Thanks!

Defintely go for either Nash or Frolov. My vote goes to Nash, but we\'ll see what other people think. LA is defintely going places in the future, but I don\'t relaly think Frolov is the cream of their crop, not saying he isnt good. I just think that Nash has way more potential to be way better both this year and years to come.

Im gonna have to agree with Anonymous, That Nash is better then Frolov, however it could be a big risk but Nash may be low on some peoples draft boards since hes stuck in Columbus with no C to play with. So you may want to take Frolov first, then hope Nash slips another Round or so. LA should be an offence Juggernaught in the next year or so when O\'Sullivan and the rest of the youngsters step in and start realizing there potential. I think you should go with Nash or Frolov

Hey Chic keep an eye on the news from the Jackets camp before you restart your draft on Tuesday - all reports say that Zherdev is looking really good centering Nash and Vyborny to this point. If that works - cha-ching. I think you may not really have a decision to make as I suspect one or both of Nash and Frolov could go before it gets back to you.

You are definitely in that part of the draft where you need to decide if grabbing another keeper is key (you have 6 nice ones now) or grabbing a producing vet is the right thing. I would not take Smyth over Kariya as he is a better hockey player than he is a fantasy hockey player. Brunette is interesting he scored 83 beside Sakic last year with a sore shoulder over the last part of the season - he is healthy again and the worst that may happen to him is he plays with Stastny and Hejduk. I suppose Wolski could bump him but I don\'t think that makes sense.

Dobber talks about 4th year being the charm and both Nash and Frolov are heading into it - I think keeper first - roster filler second for your squad. A few other names of interest who haven\'t gone in your draft yet are Erat, Cole, Nagy, Ray Whitney.

If you decide to go with the \"now\" guy then I\'d go after Brunette. He should still have another real good year in him.

If you go the keeper route then I\'m all for picking up Parise. He\'s something special and I see him becoming an elite player down the road.

Yeah Doulos I wouldn\'t fight the Parise idea very much - he is in a nice spot with the first line of Gionta-Elias-Zubrus - he will have ample opportunity to develop his game a little out of the spotlight. He showed the money last year as far as I am concerned - Nash would still be my preference but Parise would get the nod over Frolov for me.

Nash seems the obvious choice now. I\'ll definitely try to have more information on the \"Zherdev\" thing. However, I totally agree with you Shoeless when you said that it might time for me to grab veteran players over keeper ones. I might be tempted to grab Brunette or Kariya first and then hope Nash is still there. As jlucas09 said, he might be low on some draft list (I\'m pretty sure he is on 2-3).

The other name you gave me are interesting, but I see them more as my 3rd LW then my 2nd in term of production.

I still have 2 days to think about it... Thanks buddies!

Nash won\'t last - if he comes to you and you want him then pounce - guys like Brunette who you don\'t want to keep will be relatively easy to compensate for - you miss by a few points or so it is just one year.

If it was RW or Centre you were filling I wouldn\'t be so concerned about grabbing a guy - LW is the rare forward bird.

Parise is supposed to become the Franchise player on NJ - hard to pass up.
Frolov keeps flashing special talent and just needs to get consistent.
He is also being surrounded by a young talented group on a team that likes to score.

I\'m in the minority but I like Frolov.

I\'ll go with frolov, hes got too much talent and is ona very offensive gifted team, he\'ll bounce back with 85 pts. But I also think Nash will bounce back since now their trying Zherdev at center with Nash and Vyborny on the wings.

I\'d still go with Frolov just because there so much talent in the LAK teams that hes bound to get points.
