i agree with the general cosensus , getzlaf will be a complete player and he and stall will see similar points but vanek will grow into an offensive machine and turris has a huge future.

I don\'t get how Vanek is all of a sudden that much more valuable than E Staal. Buffalo scored an awesome amount of goals last year, and there is a big difference between Briere & Roy IMO! I think Staal will probably out point Vanek with about the same goals? His dip last season was pretty easy to explain following the Canes winning the cup. I don\'t think Getzlaf has a chance at scoring near Staal in the next couple of years or long term for that matter! I think the playoff warning is very relevant here, regarding Getzlaf. I agree that the guy getting Vanek, Turris etc has made a nice deal, but I think Staal\'s value is being underappreciated, Vanek could easily be a 32 goal guy this year with Staal bouncing back to the 45 range!

My first reaction was that the team with Vanek won hands down. This is likely true in 2-3 years, particularly with both Turris and Gagner going to the Vanek side. However depending on how Getzlaf and Staal play this year, I could see that side getting a short term boost. Vanek is awesome, but some first line potentials in Buffalo have some injury problems (Connelly, Afinogenov) and I am still interested to see how the loss of Briere and Drury effects young guys like Roy (more attention).
At the same time, this trade could be a disaster for the Staal side. Staal could level off and stagnate and Getzlaf could bomb after he playoff performance with the added pressure with Selanne likely retiring. I think that Vaneks side wins this deal with the gap widening as time goes on.
